J.J. Abrams has quite the reputation for being secretive when it comes to his projects, and it appears that he’s taking the “mystery box” to another level with an upcoming Bad Robot production.  The filmmaker has unveiled a minute-long teaser trailer for an unnamed project from Bad Robot, his production company.  It’s pretty safe to assume that this isn’t Star Wars: Episode VII, but beyond that this teaser left me clueless.  We see some shots of mysterious man accompanied by a tantalizing yet enigmatic voiceover and some Michael Giacchino-esque music, and the official title of the video is “Stranger.”

So is this an upcoming Abrams-produced film?  A TV show?  A web series?  Watch the video for yourself after the jump and let us know what you think.

    It’s the The Crow

Anyone pick up any hidden clues? Maybe the order of words disappearing at the end (other than to tell us it’s coming soon)? The opening shot of the stars maybe means he’s an alien, or was abducted.

    IT’S A CRAP!

CLEARLY, this is the Lance Armstrong project Bad Robot wanted to make. The man with his mouth stitched shut CLEARLY represents a metaphor for Armstrong’s inner turmoil as he is mum abut his usage of PEDs. The man with scraggly hair CLEARLY illustrates how while Armstrong is indubitably a strong man in the eyes of competition and sports, he has languished under the horrors of testicular cancer and the elements. The use of foreshadowing with “Soon he will know” is an excellent tagline: he will know glory, only for it to be taken away from him.

Seems like it could be The Crow, but I thought he/Bad Robot wasn’t involved with that remake? Probably something completely different and I’m thinking TV show. I got 5$ on it!!

its for the Lance Armstrong Project i bet

Any chance “Soon He Will Know” is the title?

It is similar to The Crow I agree. The narrator’s accent is hard to tell.. Native American? It starts with stars that could be a clue or just Abrams saying ‘gotcha! you almost thought it was a Star Wars clip. Funny though it would be awesome if it was a Star Wars clip and the narrator was like some Jedi Yoda teacher. But, it looks more like a TV show that will take us 9 seasons to figure it all out. sigh..

I hope it isn’t for the TV show ‘Believe’ cause I saw the trailer on YouTube and it didn’t seem as “Lost-ish” (Can I say that?) as this video is.

Sounds like Michael Gambon to me.

they lost me with the guy at the end, from there it just looked unoriginal and uninteresting

Reminds me of the hype around Super 8…which turned out to be crap ,mildly speaking.

Calling Super 8 crap is an insult to crap all over the world.

We see a man with long dark hair stumbling along the shoreline. He appears to have severed ties hanging from his wrists as if at one point he were bound. “What begins at the water shall end there, and what ends there shall once more begin. This is what happens when we become lost and vanish…and are erased…and reborn.” We see a man with a “stitched mouth” holding a light. This is NOT the same man with the long dark hair we saw at the beginning.

This is JJ making a mini-series or low budget horror movie from The Twilight Zone creator Rod Serling’s final script. He buy it a year ago.

It’s the Dark Tower…JJ hasn’t got a piece of all my sci fi favs yet….

I am sick and tired of Abrams’s “Mystery Box.” It’s just an excuse to be lazy.

  • NMphotog

    Best guess:

Another show that looks cool for one episode but ends after a few seasons because it goes nowhere.

  • poppincherry

    Overrated, boring dude.
Anyone seen that over hyped ass Super 8?
