With Universal’s The Bourne Legacy staring down the barrel of an August 3, 2012 release, the studio is finally bringing some tangible casting work to the forefront. Per Deadline, four actors are currently scheduled to screen test for the film’s male lead at the beginning of April: Joel Edgerton (forthcoming remake of The Thing), Dominic Cooper (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter), Garrett Hedlund (Tron: Legacy), and Luke Evans (Clash of the Titans).
While the report is quick to mention that the actor eventually cast for the role may fall outside of the four listed here (for example, both Shia LaBeouf and Taylor Kitsch are believed to be in the mix, although neither is expected to test for the role at this time), this news at least gives fans of the franchise an idea of how Universal is approaching writer/director Tony Gilroy’s spin-off installment. It is believed that the studio sees the Bourne franchise itself as being more important to the film’s overall success than a huge name lead to place at the top of its marketing materials. With this in mind, and with production set to get underway later this year, I expect this story to be the tip of the casting iceberg surrounding The Bourne Legacy.
Luke Evans should do it. The bloke has the look and he hasn’t been exposed that much. The others just aren’t that intimidating at all.
Garrett Hedlund is bad actor. I hope he’s not who replaces Matt
Yes indeed. My mistake. Sorry Joseph.
Crud, replied in the wrong place. I’m not doing well today.
Agreed, Infinitemonkey. Evans looks the part. But I would rather see the part go to a totally unexpected actor as they did by choosing Damon, not known for his action moves. Someone like Jason Gordon Levitt or Topher Grace would be a good choice. And while they may actually be the same person, either one of these two actors could fill the role of an unassuming but highly competent operative. There is also the bonus that both can actually act. Furthermore if Universal even mentions the name, Sam Worthington, I’m pooping on their globe.
if you mean joseph gordon-levitt i think you are right he can play any role he is a talented actor
i could not disagree with all you guys more i think Garrett would be a great choce, him or Tobey would have been great on screen.
garrett hedlund is a really good actor and has a lot of potentials given the right role he will prove himself i think
Hayden Christensen
Hayden Christensen needs this, he needs a break from Darth Vadar, plus Hayden Christensen is a terrific actor.
