For fans of “Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle,” this Friday is a very big day. That’s because after years of wondering if they’d ever get a sequel to the 2004 comedy, this Friday they find out if Harold and Kumar actually made it to Amsterdam.

But if you haven’t seen the first film don’t worry, I can happily report you can watch the sequel and still have a good time.

Here’s what you need to know: Harold and Kumar are two stoners that always manage to get into trouble. In the first film they had to deal with a raccoon, a racist officer, and a very horny Neil Patrick Harris. In the new film…actually, I’m not going to spoil the surprises. All you need to know is, at the beginning of the film they try and go to Amsterdam. Since this is a Harold and Kumar movie, chaos ensues.

Anyway, to help promote the movie I got to interview John Cho (Harold) and Neil Patrick Harris (click here to watch that interview).

Since the interview was supposed to be with his Kal Penn (he was busy shooting something else), I ask Johnif he was happy to be doing the promotion without Kal. Needless to say, he wasn’t expecting the question.

And speaking of unexpected questions… the morning of this interview I emailed Simon Pegg (if you haven’t figured out we’re friends then you haven’t been reading this site) and asked him for a funny question to ask John. He then told me a good one and you can watch John’s reaction. It's very good.

And if you missed the movie clips from “Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay” click here.

John Cho

  • I ask if he’s happy to be doing the promotion without Kal Penn
  • Has he been asked about the sequel a lot since the first film
  • Does he always get asked by folks on the street to get high with them
  • Minor spoiler – There is a chance they go to Amsterdam in this movie. I ask what was that like and did people stare at them when they were filming
  • I ask what was it like for him to be offered the role in Star Trek
  • I ask if it’s difficult being friends with Simon Pegg based on all the famous friends he has
  • Finally, I ask if it’s possible that Simon sends John pictures of him with famous people
