News of Cusack's possible role as Brian Wilson comes via The Wrap.  Bill Pohlad's film takes "an unconventional look at the life of the Beach Boys leader and explore his legendary battle with mental illness."  The picture will explore facets of Wilson's life ranging from examples of his musical genius to his personal struggles and life-saving relationships.  Paul Dano (Looper) is already attached to play Wilson at an earlier stage of his life, while Cusack is in negotiations to play Wilson at an older age.

Next up from Variety is news that Collins Jr. will join the cast of Transcendence, which already sports Paul Bettany, Rebecca Hall, Morgan Freeman, Cillian Murphy and Kate Mara in addition to Depp.  The picture is rumored to concern a scientist whose brain gets uploaded into a supercomputer, but confirmed plot details are being kept under tight wraps.  Collins Jr. can next be seen in this summer's anticipated sci-fi flick Pacific Rim from Guillermo del Toro.

Also from The Wrap comes word that Sharma, who made a big splash globally with his debut in Ang Lee's Life of Pi, will star in Million Dollar Arm.  Hamm stars in this "based on a true story" tale as J.B. Bernstein, a sports agent who discovered professional pitchers Dinesh Patel and Rinku Singh through a reality show he staged in India. 40,000 auditioning cricket players, who use a similar motion as baseball pitchers, came out to compete; Patel and Singh ended up singing with the Pittsburgh Pirates.  It's not yet known which role Sharma would be playing.

Hamm has been attached to the project for almost a year, so one wonders if the recent success of Jackie Robinson biopic 42 didn't have a little something to do with pushing Million Dollar Arm along the development track.  Production is scheduled to commence in Mumbai next month, followed by time in Atlanta.
