The cast of Christopher Nolan’s upcoming sci-fi film Interstellar is rounding out ahead of the film’s imminent production start date.  The great John Lithgow is the latest actor to join the film’s cast, which is toplined by Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, and Michael Caine.  Given that plot details are firmly under wraps, The Wrap’s report has no information on Lithgow’s role.  Nevertheless, the Emmy-winning actor makes a swell addition, along with yesterday’s news of Ellen Burstyn, Mackenzie Foy, and Timothee Chalamet joining the cast.  Interstellar opens on November 7, 2014.

Additionally, Variety reports that Jessica Chastain is in talks to topline Margin Call director J.C. Chandor’s new film A Most Violent Year with Javier Bardem.  Plot details for the pic are being kept close to the vest, but production is slated to begin in New York City this fall.  Chandor’s Margin Call follow-up, the Robert Redford-fronted survival drama All Is Lost, is slated to open in theaters on October 25th.

Chastain has been keeping busy since her Best Actress Oscar nomination earlier this year for Zero Dark Thirty.  She has wrapped filming on The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby and Miss Julie, and in addition to Interstellar, The Zookeeper’s Wife, and possibly A Most Violent Year, she’s poised to star in Guillermo del Toro’s haunted house drama Crimson Peak, which starts production early next year.  That is most certainly a varied and promising lineup of films.
