Handsome Alert: First Images of Jon Hamm and Daniel Radcliffe in U.K. Miniseries A YOUNG DOCTOR’S NOTEBOOK

In what’s sure to be today’s most good-looking story, the first images of Jon Hamm and Daniel Radcliffe in the British miniseries A Young Doctor’s Notebook have surfaced. The dark comedy is based on the short stories of Mikhail Bulgakov and stars Hamm as a post-WWI doctor who struggles to cover up his self-doubt and lack of confidence. In a bit of a twist, he often interacts with a manifestation of his younger self played by Radcliffe. These first images promise lots and lots of brooding from Hamm and Radcliffe, so get excited folks.

Hit the jump to check out the images. A Young Doctor’s Notebook will air on Sky Arts 1 in the U.K. in early December, but as of yet doesn’t have a U.S. premiere date.

How are they going to get around the fact that Radcliffe is about a foot shorter than Hamm? Guys pretty much stop growing after high school, so if Radcliffe is a younger-but-still-adult version of Hamm (he has to be, otherwise why the doctor costume instead of school clothes?), then why isn’t he even approximately the same height?

Aside from that, I’m excited for it, haha.

  I think they may have noticed the physical differences between the actors when they cast them. I have read the book and the “conversations” between the two are imagined in the younger doctor’s head.. Even though the older doctor appears to be real he is actually a figment of the imagination and the younger, inexperienced doctor may picture him as being as having grown in wisdom and stature. over the years. Alternatively, the older doctor is reading his diaries and pities the younger inexperienced version of himself – he may picture him as smaller and insignificant . They may appear in scenes together but one or the other is being imagined by the other.
