Josh Brolin Jonah Hex video interview image slice

With the amount of coverage we’ve given Jonah Hex over the past few months (my set report and on set interviews with Josh Brolin, John Malkovich, and Director Jimmy Hayward), I’d like to think you know what the movie is about and who’s in it.  But for the three people that don’t, watch these movie clips and read the synopsis.

Anyway, the other day I got to sit down with Josh Brolin for a new interview and it turned out great as Brolin is super cool and willing to talk about anything. During interview he talked about why he wanted to play Jonah Hex, what the past year has been like for him as he’s been working nonstop on films like Wall Street 2, Woody Allen’s You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger, the Coen Brothers True Grit, and he even told me why he wanted to be in Men in Black 3.  It’s really a great interview so check it out after the jump:

And one thing before watching…Brolin and I were talking (off camera) about how he thought he had just spoken to me on the phone and that’s how the interview starts.  Also, Brolin credits me as one of the reasons why he made this movie.  If you don’t know the story, watch this interview from last year’s Comic-Con.

I'm sure you'll post a review soon and I hope I'm wrong but “Jonah Hex” looks horrible. I hope it's not because Josh Brolin is a very good actor and it would be great to see him become one of the “bankable” A list actors.

In a few months I'd love it if you covered the Wall Street junket where Brolin yells out at the conference,”There he is! That's the GUY who told me to do it! HE MADE ME DO HEX!”

The movie was bad. Real bad. The comics are good- never great- but man, I was shocked by how this ended up being another Ghost Rider. I dug Brolin at times, be he seemed tonally all over the place– so did the rest of the movie. It felt like a made my committee piece of crap. Everything seemed in place: Brolin as Hex, the awesome Michael Fassbender, Megan Fox in a corset (who's never been more bland), Malkovich, and good source material to use for reference. How could something go so bad?

I remember being excited at Comic Con. This reminds me a lot of the Terminator Salvation press. McG solid it so well, but didn't deliver. I'd say Brolin and Co. did the same. Brolin seems like a passionate and cool guy (he's a great actor as well), but he or whoever else to blame really dropped the ball on this one.

and the movie will most likely bomb. It doesn't deserve to make money and I'm sure Toy Story 3 will crush it– an actual great movie.

Um.. you had me until you said Terminator Salvation didn't deliver. I couldn't disagree more. That movie kicked my ass. Still, I love Brolin in everything but I can't get excited about this. And I hate Megan Fox.

  • Wha

It delivered on the action for sure. But going into a Terminator film, I expect more than just dumb fun. I'm not saying Salvation is bad- it's fine – but the comparison is just how well they amped up and sold the movie, but didn't deliver on what they were selling. Here, Brolin and co. did more worse.
