Oscar-nominated screenwriter Josh Olson (A History of Violence) is now working with an award-winning artist of a different sort.  Mick Jagger, of The Rolling Stones fame, has brought Olson on to write the script for Tabloid, the working title of an adult thriller that aims to star the aging rocker.  Jagger himself came up with the idea for Tabloid, which features a young journalist getting caught up in the immoral world of global media. At the top of that world is a mogul of questionable scruples who seduces said reporter.  Two guesses for which role Jagger is eyeing.Jagger will produce through his Jagged Films banner with Victoria Pearman, as well as Steve Bing at Shangri-La Entertainment. Bing is also set to finance the Jagger star vehicle.  Olson, meanwhile, has just turned in his first draft of director Chris McQuarrie’s One Shot, the Tom Cruise-starring adaptation of the popular Jack Reacher novels by author Lee Child.  Hit the jump for more info on Olson’s projects. In addition to the Tabloid news (via Deadline), Olson has scripted a series for FX that’s based off of 2007’s Korean film Soo (aka Art of Revenge). Soo follows the path of a twin (a hitman) as he avenges his brother’s death by assuming his role as a policeman and tracking down the murderers. After witnessing Olson’s words brought to the screen in A History of Violence, added to FX’s impressive track record of late, this could be a project to keep an eye on.However, the highlight of Olson’s current work is probably One Shot, which just recently added some gravitas with the casting of Richard Jenkins. Though we don’t have a synopsis for the film as of yet, check out the novel’s summary below:

Six shots. Five dead. One heartland city thrown into a state of terror. But within hours the cops have it solved: a slam-dunk case. Except for one thing. The accused man says: You got the wrong guy. Then he says: Get Reacher for me.

And sure enough, ex—military investigator Jack Reacher is coming. He knows this shooter–a trained military sniper who never should have missed a shot. Reacher is certain something is not right–and soon the slam-dunk case explodes.

Now Reacher is teamed with a beautiful young defense lawyer, moving closer to the unseen enemy who is pulling the strings. Reacher knows that no two opponents are created equal. This one has come to the heartland from his own kind of hell. And Reacher knows that the only way to take him down is to match his ruthlessness and cunning–and then beat him shot for shot. Via Amazon
