Kate Beckinsale UNDERWORLD 5 and TOTAL RECALL interview slice

With directors Mans Marlind and Bjorn Stein’s Underworld: Awakening opening this weekend, I recently got to sit down with most of the cast to talk about making the movie.  Kate Beckinsale returns as Selene, “who escapes imprisonment to find herself in a world where humans have discovered the existence of both Vampire and Lycan clans, and are conducting an all-out war to eradicate both immortal species.”  Stephen Rea, Michael Ealy, Theo James, India Eisley, and Charles Dance also star.

During my interview with Beckinsale we talked about the action scenes and how they compare to the previous films, how long did she debate about returning to the franchise, pranks on set, what’s her karaoke song, and her thoughts on more Underworld movies.  In addition, with Beckinsale also starring in the remake of Total Recall as Lori (originally played by Sharon Stone), she talked about how her Lori compares to Stone’s version and what can fans look forward to in the remake.  Hit the jump to watch.

I love the Underworld movies. I hope they do make a 5th one. I also hope in that one they bring Michel back. I love there love story and it is wired not seeing them together. I hope if they is a 5th one they bring Michel and Selene back together. That would be Awesome!!!

hey you think they will make a 5th underworld

  • Alyssa

I agree, they need to make another underworld, I love all the underworlds, but if they do end up making a 5th one then selene and Michel need to be together, its very strange watching a movie without them both in it.

I totally agree, i was looking for Michael all through the movie and then to have him find out Selene’s alive and they have a really cool looking daughter is great too! Wow kinda funny that the guy who plays Dyson (Kristen Holden-Ried) in Lost Girl played a very large lycon in the movie to considering he’s a wolf in Lost Girl!

I have got to say I enjoy these supernatural movies that aren’t on the horror or the completely stupid action packed and gore riddled side.
yes it has action but its kept alive with an enthralling story line that continues all through the franchise. it has betrayal, conspiracy, revelation and a believable love story. Giving rise to the first two movies, we are then shown the truth of the feuding fight between vampires and lycans in the third installment, with Lucians point of view and his quest for vengeance. and finally we come to the fourth and hopefully not the last of the franchise, Under World Awakening where Selene has been in a cryogenic slumber for twelve years, as humans have discovered the two secret species, and have gone all out war to eradicate them. One has to wonder if this still would have happened if Alexander Corvenius was still alive and covering up the truth? as he did in UW: Evolution. No matter it just complicates things just that little more…Fun, what we learn in Awakening, is Selene has given birth to a child with out her knowledge, and although she is looking more for Michael she can’t help a sense of motherly tenderness towards the twelve year old before her. the ending scene after a well rounded battle, is Selene her daughter known as Eve, and a vampire counter part, on top of a roof looking for Michael after Eve has a telekinetic vision with her farther, something that she is capable of doing that links her to her parents. This then leading to the inevitable question as the screen goes dark and the credits begin, Will there be another movie that see’s the Two Hybrid Lover Selene and Michael back together, and for Eve to finally gaze and reunited with her farther? In my opinion it will happen, (if not that is a really irritating and unforgivable way to end a franchise). but we’ll see I like the franchise and if your the type of person who is some what bored of twihards sparkling vampire’s and young werewolves who got more hair than they bargained for when they hit puberty then these are the movies for you.
In ending Writers of Collider if you have any influence on the film developers, directors, producers etc please use it.
I wish you all the best
    Sincerely and Respectfully
