After contract disputes with the lead actors delayed the Entourage movie significantly, Adrian Grenier, Kevin Connolly, Kevin Dillon, Jerry Ferrara, and Jeremy Piven have all apparently closed their deals and filming on the pic is slated to get underway early next year. Now Entourage creator Doug Ellin, who wrote and is directing the movie, has turned his attention to casting other roles, and it appears he’s settled on the idea of tapping model-turned-actress Kate Upton to play the film’s female lead, which is probably a model-turned-actress. Hit the jump for more.
The Wrap reports that Upton is in early discussions to join the film, though a formal offer has yet to be extended. The Sports Illustrated model made her acting debut in 2011’s Tower Heist and appeared in last year’s The Three Stooges. She’ll next be seen opposite Cameron Diaz and Leslie Mann in the upcoming comedy The Other Woman.
“Plot” details for the Entourage movie are under wraps as are details regarding the female lead, but one imagines the character is a love interest for Grenier’s Vince. Given that all of Vince’s love interests on the show were basically the same character and essentially followed the same arcs, an interesting or complex love interest in the movie seems unlikely. Warner Bros. has set a firm budget cap for the Entourage film at $30 million, so the story will once again likely revolve around the everyday issues surrounding Vince and some project, with his closest companions creating further obstacles. It’s okay though, because everything works out in the end.
