While you probably know her as Starbuck from Battlestar Galactica, Katee Sackhoff will soon have a new sci-fi franchise to add to her repertoire. We previously reported that Sackhoff was being considered for a role opposite Vin Diesel in the upcoming sci-fi flick, Riddick. It now looks as if she’s a lock as Sackhoff is reported to be in final negotiations for the role. She’ll be playing Dahl, a Nordic mercenary tasked with tracking down the titular anti-hero. Also playing the mercenary game is Jordi Molla (Blow) who will play Santana,  a leader of an eight-man crew bent on killing Riddick. Things are not looking up for our favorite Furyan.

The third installment of the franchise that started with Pitch Black and staggered with The Chronicles of Riddick was once again written and directed by David Twohy; it also stars Karl Urban reprising his role as Lord Vaako. Hit the jump for more on Riddick.

katee-sackhoffDeadline reported on Sackhoff being in final negotiations for the role, not long after production had resumed after a two month hiatus due to financial troubles. Sackhoff will reportedly transition from filming Riddick to her new A&E western drama, Longmire. She can next be seen in films The Haunting in Georgia and Sexy Evil Genius.

Meanwhile, Variety broke the news on Molla’s final negotiations to be another thorn in Riddick’s side. Fans should recognize him as the villain in Olivier Megaton’s Colombiana. He also played the villainous role opposite Will Smith and Martin Lawrence in Bad Boys 2. Though having recently missed out on the chance to play yet another villain in J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek 2, Molla certainly has the experience to antagonize Diesel in Riddick. Molla can next be seen (or heard, rather) in The Last Man from Atlantis.

Check out the official synopsis for Riddick below:

Betrayed by his own kind and left for dead on a desolate planet, Riddick (Diesel) fights for survival against alien predators and becomes more powerful and dangerous than ever before. Soon bounty hunters from throughout the galaxy descend on Riddick only to find themselves pawns in his greater scheme for revenge. With his enemies right where he wants them, Riddick unleashes a vicious attack of vengeance before returning to his home planet of Furya to save it from destruction.

  1. I loved Pitch Black and liked Riddick except they killed off Imam and “Jack”. This sounds stupid but I really like hardcore Katee in just about anything. guess we will just have to wait and see.

  2. Vin isn’t getting any younger, and so the chances of a Riddick prequel grow less and less possible.

Hopefully, Furya is where the Necromongers are going after they ditch Riddick; it makes the best sense.

  3. I liked Chronicles. It was cool sci-fi, imaginative, with great special effects. The Necromongers would make a great space opera spin-off. Why all the hate?
