While I’m going to have trouble believing that a third Bill & Ted movie is a reality until cameras actually start rolling on it, Keanu Reeves says that he expects the writers to send him and co-star Alex Winter a draft in about six weeks. Reeves also told MTV that the film will be based on the events of Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey:
“When we last got together, part of it was that Bill and Ted were supposed to have written the song that saved the world, and it hasn’t happened. So they’ve now become kind of possessed by trying to do that. Then there’s an element of time and they have to go back.”

I’m a bit confused by Reeves’ description of the plot. Are Bill and Ted in their mid-40s and still trying to come up with a hit song? Isn’t that a little sad? I think a more interesting story would be to see Bill and Ted as the revered rockers in the “future” and struggling to figure out how to rule. The first two movies were all about leading the eponymous heroes to their destiny. I think if they’re planning to do a sequel, an interesting take would be to see Bill and Ted having attained that destiny and moving forward from there.
But I’m on board with a new Bill & Ted movie simply because I think it could be delightfully goofy to see these characters again played by the same actors when it’s been twenty years since the last movie.

I think this could be a good way to show us how they become an influence on the future and maybe another sequel on what’s happens afterwards.
It’s “based on,” not “based off.” Hard to take an article seriously that can’t even get basic English constructions right.

David, this is a “Bill and Ted” movie. Who really cares if something is based on or based off. You come across as a snob. The writer got the rest of the article correct according to your comment. Why be such a snob? At least he wrote an article what have you done? It’s easy to throw stones when you don’t have to worry about anyone throwing them back.
Of all the possible re-hashings, sequels and throw backs to old school films this one I have most faith about. Bill n Ted is set in a world that can be brought back easily if u ask me. StAtion!!
With comedies I think some actual coolness is required, so it’s not absolute farce but dangerous in some part of the comedy. Mix in some cool effect every once in a while too, so the dangerous has some pow coolness.
I think Bill and Ted think about the best song as a mp3 in place of a wav. And wonder if the best song in the world is worth giving to a mp3 world. Like in Escape from new York with plisskin, he thought why give him the music tape.
