Avengers (1).jpg

When you have an opportunity to sit down with Kevin Feige – the President of Production of Marvel Studios – you listen up because he’s the one with the most important news about Marvel’s upcoming films.  So during this afternoon’s roundtable interview at Comic-Con for “Iron Man 2″, we listened up. When it was my turn to ask a question, I went for what many of us have been wondering: which Marvel superheroes will be in the upcoming “Avengers” movie?! You know you want to find out so hit the jump:

Avengers.jpgThe quick info is it’s going to be Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, and Nick Fury for sure. He also says Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson). Since I don’t want to put words in his mouth, here’s exactly what he said after I asked him who would be in the Avengers movie?

Kevin: I think we know. It’s going to be Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Nick Fury. I think it’s safe to assume that there will be some members of the Hulk universe in the film as well. In terms of the additional, I think Black Widow for sure. SHIELD’s organization for sure. And, again, what’s exciting to me about the Avengers movie are seeing those four characters together and interact with each other. Anywhere from the first issue of the Avengers to Civil War, the dynamic between Steve Rogers and Tony Stark is awesome and fascinating. It brings out sides of the others that won’t be brought out in their own franchises. Throwing Thor into the mix is a whole other thing and I think that will be cool. So to pile in another ten or fifteen…or frankly even four…I think will be too many.

Is the Hulk in it?

Kevin: You know Zack Penn is outlining it as we speak so we’ll see.

Since the “Avengers” movie is still being written, things do change. But I think it’s very safe to assume it’s not going to change too much. Much more from Comic-Con soon.

I think he would be perfect for Super Soldier Stever Rogers.I know he isn’t American, but who cares. It’s called acting. He was in contention for Thor, but I feel his build which is tall and athletic is much more suited for Cap. If anyone has seen Generation Kill where he played “Iceman” knows he can pull off an American soldier with ease. It’s interesting that in Generation Kill there was a unit leader who every one nickname Captain America. He was a total F up and didn’t get anything right. So lets start the Campaign for Skarsgard as Captain America. If he does get cast it will also bring a lot of attention to the movie just for the fact an American born Actor isn’t playing the role.

Alex Skarsgard would have been the perfect Thor. It’s a shame they cast someone else. But Skargard for Cap? He’s a great actor so I bet he could pull it off

Make Cap American. I think thats one of those characters that should stay true to the characters Nationality. There are plenty good American actors that can pull off the part

On the roster: I would love to see it larger then just the 4. Black Panther, Hawkeye, Hank Pym, Wasp, & Falcon would be great to see

Cap, Iron man, Thor, black widow with the addition of hawk eye (from the ultimates line)… you need hawk eye

Why does it have to be the “Ultimates” Hawkeye? What’s wrong with good old Clint Barton: former carney, Iron Man villain, and Black Widow boy toy?

What was the point of rebooting Hulk, then? I really want to see him at The Avengers Movie, either as hero or villain!

First of all, Captain America WAS NOT IN AVENGERS#1!!! Know your own characters and get your facts straight Kevin Feige!!!! Secondly, the typical Avengers roster has been 7 at least in the 70′s, 80′s, and 90′s. Originally, it was Iron Man, Ant-Man, Wasp, Thor, and the Hulk. The Hulk quit after fighting all of them, and Captain America joined. Here is my vote: Captain America, Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, War Machine, Ms. Marvel/Warbird/Binary, Captain Marvel/Photon, and the Vision. Marvel will never be able to have sequels with Iron Man, the Hulk, and Thor in it because they have their own film series and the actors would each command to high a price per film. Lesser known actors could be used for the above characters, which would make for a profitable Avengers series. Plus, the above roster would include the diversity needed to sell in the worldwide market. Vision could be an Asian actor, and the Scarlet Witch could be a Latina. You have 2 “hot” blondes with Captain America and Warbird, and Captain Marvel/Photon and War Machine would provide spectacular effects. With this roster, you could include mutant storylines, tech storylines, international war storylines, and alien storylines. Of course, Marvel doesn’t have this foresight, and there will never be an Avengers 2 because the costs of including Hulk, Captain America, Thor, and Iron Man will be too great to duplicate after the first movie.

Give a rest, will you? You can’t have every detail from the comic books remain the same.
