I don’t know when director Steven Soderbergh plans to stop casting Magic Mike, but the answer doesn’t appear to be “anytime soon.”  THR adds Betsy Brandt (Breaking Bad) to the cast; more bizarrely, Deadline says professional wrestler Kevin Nash (aka “Big Sexy”) will appear in the movie based on a 19-year-old Channing Tatum’s experiences as a male stripper.  In the fictional version, Tatum plays a veteran dancer who teaches the new guy (Alex Pettyfer) everything he knows, including “the protocol of stage performance, the principles of money management, and rules for dating female fans.”  Matthew McConaughey, Matt Bomer, Cody Horn, Joe Mangianello, Riley Keough, Adam Rodriguez, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Olivia Munn, and Gabriel Iglesias also star.

Hit the jump for details on Michelle Rodriguez’s return to the Resident Evil franchise and Haley Ramm’s role in Disconnect.

michelle-rodriguez-image-1Bloody Disgusting has confirmed Michelle Rodriguez is on board to reprise her role as Rain Ocampo in Resident Evil: Retribution—she was last seen in the first movie based on the Resident Evil video games in 2002.  Milla Jovovich will play Alice for the fifth time, starring opposite Sienna Guillory, Colin Salmon, Boris Kodjoe.  Additionally, Shawn Roberts will return in a cameo as Albert Wesker.  Paul W.S. Anderson will direct Resident Evil: Retribution for a 3D release on September 14, 2012.

Variety reports Haley Ramm (Red State) has been cast in the indie drama Disconnect.  The script by Andrew Stern centers on “a large ensemble of characters who are affected—and in some cases destroyed—by the Internet and other forms of modern communication.”  Ramm will play Jason Bateman’s daughter, “a popular but self-absorbed high school student whose younger brother falls victim to an online hoax perpetrated by two of his classmates.”  Alexander Skarsgard, Paula Patton, Frank Grillo, Andrea Riseborough, Colin Ford, and Michael Nyqvist also star; Henry-Alex Rubin (Murderball) is directing.

I was under the impression turning into a zombie and being shot in the head at the end of the first movie was the last we would be seeing of her. Unless she is some kind of clone, I can’t possibly see any way to rationally explain how she is back for Retribution.

other than being a clone it could be part of a flashback…colin Salmon’s character in the first movie was cut to pieces…so either they are both clones or its a flashback scene.

Well Rodriguez was only shot in the head, and the t virus can bring back people from that without much damage.

But yes, Salmon was literally cut to pieces so it does suggest a flashback. Clones are very possible though given their popular use in the film, perhaps they trying to trap Alice.

I hope Kevin Nash does more mainstream movies from now on. It would be good if he is included in ‘The Expendables 2′.

Either way I’m excited to see Rodriguez in the next RE film, she was one of the best things about the first one, can’t get over her screen presence. Shes super-hot, bad-ass and a trash talker. What more could you ask for?

Lets hope they don’t screw up this next one, the last one was bollocks.
