A couple weeks ago, we reported that writer-director Jeff Wadlow was gearing up to shoot Kick-Ass 2 this September, and he was in talks with Chloe Moretz to reprise her role as Hit-Girl since the character would have an expanded role in the film.  Deadline now reports that Moretz, along with her Kick-Ass co-stars Aaron Johnson and Christopher Mintz-Plasse, are close to signing deals to return for the sequel.  Surprisingly, none of the cast members had sequel options in their contracts, so they required new negotiations.  There’s also talk of Nicolas Cage doing a cameo role, but he has yet to receive an offer.

Kick-Ass 2 has “several other star roles for new characters”, so we should look forward to some fresh casting news this summer before the flick goes in front of cameras this fall.

  1. Great News Matt!

I assuming if Nic Cage has a cameo it would be a flashback. It has to be. I see no other way.

Maybe hit girl remembers special training or something for some new obstacle she has to face.

I’m really looking forward to this….

  2. I am so glad it made enough on DVD to warrant a sequel, after the box office performance it was really up in the air there for a while. But Kick ass kicked ass on DVD and Blu Ray so YAY for us fans.

    (Sorry I couldnt help myself)

  3. I’m still skeptical about the director, but I hope it’s as good,if not better than the awesome first movie.

  4. They may need Cage for flashbacks because the upcoming Hit-Girl comic book prequel mini-series is supposedly the basis for the first act of a Kick-Ass 2 movie screenplay.
