Jane Goldman Says Matthew Vaughn’s Next Film Will Most Likely NOT Be KICK-ASS 2

With reports swirling about that Kick-Ass co-writer Jane Goldman is currently writing that film’s sequel, the X-Men: First Class co-scribe took to Twitter earlier today in an attempt to set the record straight.  Via two different tweets, Goldman denied reports that she is already hard at work on Kick-Ass 2 saying:

“Saw a few erroneous reports today that I’m currently writing Kick Ass 2 script – sorry if anyone’s disappointed, but not true. Currently writing for 2 other projects, then on to lovely Matthew V’s next thing (right now, looks unlikely to be KA2) when X-Men post-prod’ ends.”

Based upon the above, if Goldman’s not working on the Kick-Ass 2 script and it’s “unlikely” that director Matthew Vaughn’s next film will be Kick-Ass 2, then what’s Vaughn working on after X-Men: First Class?  For my best guess, hit the jump.

stardust_movie_image_matthew_vaughn__1_While this is pure speculation, Kick-Ass co-creator (along with artist John Romita, Jr.) Mark Millar claimed back in December that his latest comic-turned-optioned-movie Superior had landed the “most high-profile actor of 2010″ and that an official announcement on the film would come in January.  With just over one week left on Millar’s self-imposed timeline, will we soon be hearing that Superior is Vaughn’s next project?

Of course, this is just wide-eyed speculation at this point as there is still a chance that Kick-Ass 2 will be the next item on Vaughn’s plate.  That said, given his experience in both adapting comics for the big screen and working with Millar, Superior wouldn’t be the most absurd project for the director to take on.

Vaughn and Goldman’s next film, X-Men: First Class hits theaters on June 3rd.  In case you missed it, you can check out what the director recently had to say about that film by clicking here.

  1. Kick-Ass was a truly awful movie. Filled with cliches, plot-holes, tin-eared dialogue, characters I could care less about and to top it all off, it blatantly rips-off better movies. I know a lot of the online community is in love with the stupid film; but, for me, I hope they never make a sequel.

  2. ^ SaltyNuts, maybe the film wasn’t for you. Ever thought of that? Your entitled to your opinion but you sound like a moron and your reasonings for kickass being awful are just plain dumb
