Open Road Films has released new images and the first trailer for the Jason Statham actioner Killer Elite. It has everything a man could want: guns, explosions, a bikini butt closeup, “Rock You Like a Hurricane,” Clive Owen’s mustache… the list goes on. I kid, mostly — the trailer is a blast. Killer Elite looks like a treat for fans of pure action.
Statham plays an ex-special ops agent lured out of retirement to rescue his mentor, played by Robert De Niro: “To make the rescue, he must complete a near-impossible mission of killing three tough-as-nails assassins with a cunning leader (Owen).” Yvonne Strahovski and Dominic Purcell also star. Directed by Gary McKendry, Killer Elite hits theaters on September 23. Hit the jump for the trailer and images.

Loved this sequence: Statham flies out a window — cut to text, “Based on a true story.” Oh, and is that Strahovski’s butt? Despite how often they show it on Chuck, I can’t be sure.

Is it only me or is anybody else disappointed that Yvonne Strahovski is only playing a love interest in the movie and not part of the action. When I first heard she was in this movie I was hoping that’s what her role would be.
Don’t get me wrong she looks amazing doing anything but when kicking ass shes even hotter, anyone watching Chuck would agree. Hope that this movie gets her name more out there.
I couldn’t say i’m disappointed i expected for her to be just eye`candy from when i first heard of this project… this is not Chuck where she can be a co`lead .. and be part of the action.
Her job in Killer Elite is to look hot and shoot hot kisses & sex scenes with Statham, as the trailer already revealed.
If you want to see her act watch Chuck, if you want to see her ass and tits watch Killer Elite…
Well when I read the very brief synopsis of this months ago it seemed like it would be some sort of ‘assassins’ vs ‘assassins’ type thing and I guess I hope she would be one of them since its a perfect role for her.
Not many actresses are convincing as the ‘sexy and deadly’ thing but she does it easily.
If she choose this role, i hope she at least do it properly like Mini Anden did in “The Mechanic” and by “do it properly” i mean i hope she`l do total nudity , it would be her first time so i guess it’s something to look forward too
Well, De Niro needs to fire his agent if he’s doing a movie with Jason Statham.
just give him a break. he’s just passing time before Scorsese does the Irishman. i agree Pacino is having much better time waiting for the Irishman. those planned projects with Mamet, the Levinson’s projects are more promising than this.
De Niro can only play De Niro, got nothing else new. Sorry my point of view.
Yeah, this looks pretty much like and over-the-top action flick with zero serious drama.
I just hope this movie will suck less then “The Expendables” did

Quite trollin you losers, this is a movie for guys who like movies. rock n sockem action!!!! I love flicks like this early fall. Hell my favorite summer flicks have been Tree of Life, XFC, and Cave of Forgotten Dreams. The trailer rocked, the movie does not pretend to be anything other than what it is.. Bring on The Devil’s Double.
Stathams films are pretty good, that he could attract Owens and Deniro to this project is impressive. Or maybe they are just selling it as a nother Statham action film.
