The first look at director Matthew Vaughn’s new film is now available as Kingsman: The Secret Service trailer is now online along with the teaser poster.  The story is based on the Mark Millar comic about a veteran secret agent (Colin Firth) who takes a teen delinquent (Taron Egerton) from the streets of London, and brings him into a British spy school that molds its students into suave 007-types.  The plot is strikingly similar to Wanted, also written by Millar–an ordinary guy discovers his capacity for violence can be honed and embraced by a secret organization.  I’m a big fan of Vaughn’s work, and the trailer looks fun, although I was hoping to see a little more of Firth showing off some James Bond moves beyond looking suave.

Colin Firth, Taron EgertonMichael Caine, Samuel L. Jackson, and Mark Strong star in the new Fox film due out October 24th.  Hit the jump to watch Kingsman: The Secret Service trailer and check out the poster.  Click here for images from the movie.

Based upon the acclaimed comic book and directed by Matthew Vaughn (Kick Ass, X-Men First Class), Kingsman: The Secret Service tells the story of a super-secret spy organization that recruits an unrefined but promising street kid into the agency’s ultra-competitive training program just as a global threat emerges from a twisted tech genius.

Is it not his nephew whom he recruits?

    • jack

It is in the graphic novel…guess they’re changing some things for the movie

    • pkh

in the comic Book, it is his nephew, bus I guess in this movie, we’re not gonna see that

      • STAR-LORD #ROUGE SQUAD

How about it’s his nephew but most of us have not read the GN. They already said it will his be nephew many times but a synopsis and trailer don’t need to stress it. I’m sure they won’t change it for fans of the GN it’s the fact that not everybody knows so just show the action.

Soo…this is what Vaughn passed up Days of Future Past for?

    • axalon

Yep, not only that he wanted to jump into production ASAP.

    • MoviesAreForever88

Yeah…and thank god for that! I know I’m in the minority, but First class was absolutely awful. I’m so glad he doesn’t have his hands on the xmen universe anymore.

Seems a little pointless. Maybe just a badly made trailer.

    • incredible bulge

What do you mean by pointless? The trailer? The story? Are you saying the movie existing at all is pointless? Most movies are pointless save for the fact that they are made to entertain and this movie definitely looks entertaining.

      • STAR-LORD #ROUGE SQUAD

Some people just like to talk out of their ass. Nobody just likes to enjoy movies everything has to impress them and be realistic but if that’s the case there is a movie called Outside LMMFAO! That dude is a ◻️.

      • Faptain America

I still think this is just a bad trailer, and hope the movie is good. Because, well, what makes this kid so special, i.e. why do they hire him? He seems like, to use the British term, a wanker. We don’t see his trained version do anything. Is there a villain? Colin Firth does nothing but give us a tour of a walk-in closet. There’s got to be more here than a minor league of Bonds. Oh that reminds me, we already have James Bond (and Q), so what makes this movie different?

Also, given a pretty open summer this year, I’m surprised they’re dumping this one on the pre-halloween weekend. It’s not a horror movie, it’s not Oscar bait. It’s an action movie, so what’s it doing in October?

Taken 2 was released in October and made a ton of money so I’m sure studios now think action films of that nature may have a chance during that time of the year.

  • The Flobbit

This looks suave, visually stunning, and with a good dark sense of humor. Count me intrigued.

  • KGS

sick! anyone know the name of song during the trailer?

    • Django9000

Five to One by the Doors. Excellent choice. :)

  • dodge hickey

Vaughn has nothing to prove in my book, he can make entertaining movies. I’ll be there opening night.

    • stylus59

he’s trying to prove to James Bond producers that he can direct a James Bond film. IMO just give him the job already.

      • dodge hickey

The Bond producers and I have two separate books.

If it didn’t have Vaughn’s name attached to it I wouldn’t be interested. The trailer has the same flashiness that Three Days to Kill had but I’m confident it will be an amazing movie as Kick Ass and X-Men:First Class are both great films. Vaughn really has upped his game w each film so I have high expectations for this film.

    • McA

Agreed. Vaughn doesn’t exactly give good trailer but when you see his name attached as a director, you know you are in for, at the very least, a good movie.

Still super bummed about him not doing DOFP. Why he would pass up the biggest movie of his career – and not only that, if it were a success which DOFP surely will be, it could’ve given him a Nolan-esque type of freedom. Who knows, with Singer’s troubles, he may yet be back for Apocalypse as he has nothing lined up for next year.

He may not like doing sequels to his own movies but maybe he’d do a sequel to a movie of his that was a sequel that he turned down that turned out really well. If you follow that logic…

      • http://www.collider.com/ DNAsplitter

Yea I’m disapointed too but in part I think it’s because Fox had hoped to get Singer back in the director’s chair again and wouldn’t have given Vaughn that type of budget that was given for DOFP. Really going to miss Henry Jackman’s score.
