SMALLVILLE Star Kristin Kreuk Heads Back to The CW for BEAUTY AND THE BEAST Pilot

     February 16, 2012

With Smallville all wrapped up, the lovely Kristin Kreuk found herself without a show. But thankfully, her longtime home at The CW found something to keep her around on the small screen as Deadline reports she has been set to take the lead role in the network’s new adaptation of Beauty and the Beast, a modern-day, procedural twist on the classic tale. In this new version, the potential series will follow Catherine (Kreuk) as a tough-minded NYPD homicide detective haunted by witnessing her mother’s murder nine years ago and the killers’ quick demise at the hands of a Beast. After years of searching, Catherine finally finds the Beast, Vincent Koslow, the survivor of a military experiment that went disastrously wrong, and becomes the protector of his secret life as a superhero.

We already know Jennifer Levin and Sherri Cooper (Brothers and Sisters) are attached as the head writers, to produce alongside Paul Witt, C. Anthony Thomas, Ron Koslow, and Bill Haber. Now Gary Fleder (Runaway Jury, Don’t Say a Word) is slated to direct the pilot. The concept is intriguing, but using the Beauty and the Beast title seems like a bit of a gimmick since not much beyond the pilot will resemble the original series or the classic tale. The question remains as to who will play the Beast. Stay tuned.

Have the producers lost there minds. I’ve seen her in Street Fighter and Smallville and she has no where near the dramatic depth of Linda Hamilton. Don’t get me wrong, Kristen Kreuk is a descent actress, I just thought they wanted a show that was going to be as good as the original.

I mean Linda Hamilton really brought in the tears or deep loving emotion for most of her scenes. Kristen Kreuk just lacks that depth and something like that cannot be learned in drama class.

Don’t get me wrong, I think Kristen Kreuk is an ok actress and I’m sure is a nice person. She just is not up to the level. This is really dumb, considering the original show was known for it’s dramatic quality.

Terrible casting choice. Good to look at for eye candy and I wouldn’t kick her out of bed. But, she’s not going to bring the tears and romance like Linda Hamilton did.

I was interested in this as a fan of the old series until now. Hated her as Lana and will hate her in this.

Aww. Kristin Kreuk is such cutie, but, unfortunately, she’s a also an amazingly bad actress, and not much of a viewer magnet – her Street Fighter movie losing many millions proved that. I hope she doesn’t get fired before it even starts, like the Josh Schwartz rom-com fiasco, or not have the pilot picked up, like 17th Precinct. But she’s a sweetie in real life and I wish her well on her new show.

You got to be kidding me! Couldn’t they find anyone else?
