Fresh off his fatherly role in this summer’s Super 8, Kyle Chandler is set to join Allen Hughes’s thriller Broken City. The film stars Mark Wahlberg as a private detective hired to identify the lover of a powerful politician’s (Russell Crowe) wife. Things take a turn when the lover winds up dead. Catherine Zeta-Jones is onboard as the unfaithful wife, and Variety reports that Coach Taylor Chandler will be playing “the nuts and bolts component” of a mayoral candidate’s (Barry Pepper) team. I think Chandler brings an inherent charm and earnestness to every role he takes on, so his addition to this impressive ensemble is much welcomed. The actor just completed work on Ben Affleck’s thriller Argo.
The film also stars Jeffrey Wright, Griffin Dunne (After Hours), James Ransone (Inside Man), Justin Chambers (Grey’s Anatomy), Natalie Martinez (Death Race), and Alona Tal (Supernatural). Broken City opens January 18th, 2013.
