     March 24, 2016

Fox has doubled down on comedy series renewals for the 2016-17 TV season. The Last Man on Earth has been renewed for a third season while Brooklyn Nine-Nine will be returning for a fourth. Whether it’s post-apocalyptic comedy or workplace antics in a New York police precinct you’re looking for, Fox has you covered. And for fans of both series, including myself, this comes as good news since we’ll be able to enjoy the laughs for at least another year more.

If you’re just catching up on these two great shows, here’s what you need to know:

  • The Last Man on Earth, produced by 20th Century Fox Television, was created by Will Forte and executive-produced by Forte, Phil Lord, Chris Miller, Seth Cohen and Andy Bobrow. The series stars Will Forte, Kristen Schaal, January Jones, Mel Rodriguez, Mary Steenburgen and Cleopatra Coleman.
  • Brooklyn Nine-Nine is produced by Universal Television, 3 Arts Entertainment and Fremulon. Created and written by Dan Goor and Michael Schur, the series is executive-produced by Goor, Schur, David Miner and Luke Del Tredici. The series stars Andy Samberg, Andre Braugher, Terry Crews, Melissa Fumero, Stephanie Beatriz, Joe Lo Truglio, Chelsea Peretti, Dirk Blocker and Joel McKinnon Miller.

Here’s what David Madden, President of Entertainment at Fox Broadcasting Company, had to say about the renewals:

“We’re so proud of these comedies. Each has its own unique voice, but they both boast terrific ensembles with stand-out characters and, of course, phenomenal writing, which are the hallmarks of all great comedies.

We’d like to thank the executive producers, casts and crews of BROOKLYN NINE-NINE and THE LAST MAN ON EARTH for their tremendous work this season, and look forward to what’s in store next year.”

The Last Man on Earth will return with all-new episodes starting Sunday, April 3 (9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT), when Carol (Kristen Schaal) is back on the campaign for repopulation with Phil (Will Forte).

In the next episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, airing Tuesday, March 29 (9:00-9:30 PM ET/PT), Rosa (Stephanie Beatriz) enlists Jake (Andy Samberg) to help change Terry’s (Terry Crews) disapproving opinion about her fast-moving relationship with Adrian Pimento (guest star Jason Mantzoukas).
