Laura Vandervoort Returns SMALLVILLE, Betty White Joins COMMUNITY, Dolph Lundgren & Harry Dean Stanton for CHUCK slice

Here’s a bit of ripe TV casting news including a superhero, a villain and a sweet old lady. First up, EW reports that Laura Vandervoort will reprise her role as Clark Kent’s cousin Kara (aka Supergirl) to wrap up the character’s story with one episode during the final season of Smallville. Vandervoort hasn’t been seen since the seventh season of the series, but she’ll be making he final appearance as Supergirl fairly early on in the final season with the episode tentatively set to air sometime in October. Surely there’s plenty more surprises in store for Smallville fans as the series comes to an end after ten seasons.

Hit the jump for casting additions to the Emmy snubbed comedy series Community and the solid action-comedy series Chuck.
Dolph-Lundgren-PictureSure action star Dolph Lundgren as gone toe-to-toe with Rocky Balboa, but now we’ll see if he’s any match for super spy Chuck Bartowski as EW reports The Siberian Express has just signed on to guest star in the series fourth season premiere. Though details on his character are being kept under wraps, it’s presumed Lundgren will be taking on a villainous role as the show’s star Zachary Levi updated via Twitter, ““It’s true. Dolph to try and ‘break’ Chuck in Season 4 premiere.” In addition, Harry Dean Stanton (Big Love) will also have some sort of role in the season premiere. The people behind Chuck sure do love to have fun with their guest stars, so I’ll be looking forward to next season.

Finally, Universal announced today via press release that Betty White, who is on the verge of some serious overexposure, will guest star on the second season premiere of NBC’s Community. White will play professor June Bauer, an esteemed, but slightly unhinged anthropology professor. Ever since the online community got together and convinced Lorne Michaels and co. that White should host Saturday Night Live, she’s been considered to host and guest star in everything under the sun. This is great for an actress her age at this stage of her career, but sometimes you can have too much of a good thing. Check out the official press release below:
