What do Americans really think about the British? Leave it to Law & Order to answer that question for us. In addition to the seemingly hundreds of different versions of Dick Wolf’s wildly successful procedural series here in America, there exists a Law & Order: UK. The show has been running on ITV in the UK since 2009. If you haven’t seen the show, fear not. BBC America has attained the voice talents of the guy behind the voiceovers for the American Law & Order shows and put together this fantastically hilarious look at Law & Order: UK from an American’s perspective. Hit the jump to check out the clip for yourself. Beware: uptight British jokes abound.

  1. My mum, a Kansas girl who once had tea with the Queen Mother, loves this show. She will get a big kick out of this mash-up.

It really helps to watch this with someone who can translate.
Me: “What does he mean he has a ‘rod on like Nelson’s Column’ “? I get the first part – he was looking at the pictures of the prossies.”
Mom: “Nelson’s column is a monument in Trafalgar Square.” And then commence disccusion re: Napoleonic Wars, London geography, etc.

Close captioning and Wikipedia close by are also useful. Get your nerd on!

    • That’s the difference between the UK and the US. You need help understanding our culture, infact the culture of almost anyone outside of the US.

A lot of people in the UK, well almost anyone in Europe; would instantly understand most American references.

  2. This show was utter shite!

No wonder it didn’t last long! Weak cast….weak storylines…for a good british crime drama go watch Luther! now that was awesome!

  3. I love this show and quite frankly I can’t get enough of it. One day while at work, I started flipping channels and of course it was a Friday and I happened onto this channel and I am so happy I did. I work at DISH Network and decided to check out the HD, which by the way is flawless, and I saw an episode that seemed so natural to me. I haven’t looked back since and I highly recommend that people watch this show at least once but make sure it’s in HD!
