Fresh off a “controversy” over some scantily clad photos of Lea Michele and fellow Glee castmates Dianna Agron and Cory Monteith in this month’s GQ, there are now reports that she is eyeing her film debut in Garry Marshall’s (Pretty Woman) New Year’s Eve. This film is, of course, a pseudo-sequel to the star studded Valentine’s Day, which was a fairly massive box-office success earlier this year (the same can’t be said of its critical reception).
As we previously reported, the filmmakers behind Valentine’s Day were already planning a second film even before the first had hit theaters. Variety reports that Director Garry Marshall is expected to return, as well as screenwriter Katherine Fugate (The Prince and Me), and producers Mike Karz and Wayne Rice. New Year’s Eve is said to be set in New York City on December 31st (Fingers-crossed for an Arbor Day film to round out the trilogy), and some of the cast from the first flick are expected to reprise their roles. For a bit more on Michele, hit the jump.
Michele is currently enjoying a wildly successful second season on Fox’s Glee, being one of the only television shows in history to actually gain viewers in its second episode of the season (the mediocre Britney Spears tribute episode). Next week, the show takes on The Rocky Horror Picture Show in a special Halloween episode that will see the television musical number return of one Uncle Jesse (that would be John Stamos, who sadly will not be performing any Jesse and the Rippers songs).
While New Year’s Eve will most definitely not be on any Academy Award shortlists, the surely star-filled flick will more than likely open more doors for Michele’s eventual film career (which, let’s face it, is pretty much a given). Michele would not be the first of her Glee castmates to be gracing the silver screen in lieu of the show’s success. Dianna Agron recently wrapped her role in D.J. Caruso’s highly anticipated I am Number Four and Cory Monteith shot Tom Bezcucha’s (The Family Stone) film Monte Carlo during his Glee hiatus over the summer.

I was surprised how amateurish that film seemed inspite of it’s star studded cast. Only Jessica Biel managed to give her character, character.
No it isn’t award winning material, but I think it is a good choice for Lea. She never did tv before glee and has never done a movie so something light to get her feet wet is a smart move.
Plus just becasue the first one was not very good doesn’t mean this one might not be a decent film.
The headline should be “…make feature film debut in ‘New Year’s Eve,’” not “Valentine’s Day.”
fixed.
Man, this girl is HOOOOTTTTTTTT! i saw her GQ photos. she ain’t as beautiful as the other girl(which is really really pretty. and i mean Christina Hendricks-pretty), but the clothes that she wore and the whole package were super hot.
That’s actually a pretty accurate description of the GQ shots …. Very HOT indeed
