French actress Léa Seydoux (Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood) is set to play the lead female villain in the fourth Mission: Impossible. Seydoux joins a cast that includes returning players Tom Cruise, Ving Rhames, and Simon Pegg plus newcomers Jeremy Renner, Paula Patton, Vladimir Mashkov, and Josh Holloway. Michael Nyqvist (the Swedish version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) is set to play the film’s lead male villain. It’s good to know that the fourth M:I outing will be equal-opportunity in its villainy. [Update: Deadline reports that Slumdog Millionaire's Anil Kapoor will also play a bad guy in the film]
Not much is known about the fourth Mission: Impossible. We know it probably won’t be titled “Mission: Impossible IV” and it’s a reboot-of-sorts with Cruise’s Ethan Hunt working alongside Jeremy Renner’s character. Renner’s character is being set up to lead the franchise after this installment. Filming is currently underway in Europe. Directed by Brad Bird (The Incredibles), the film is slated to open on December 16, 2011. [Risky Business]

i wish everyone would drop this “jeremy renner will take over” bullshit because its,well bullshit.
As much as I agree… this IS Hollywood, and I wanna give Renner the benefit of the doubt here. Least he’s not Channing Tatum.
I am disappointed that Tom Cruise’s hair isn’t short like it was in the first and third films in the series.
The cast is lacking more female characters and young male characters.
It has been reported that Tom Cruise and Michael Nyqvist have an epic 5 page fight sequence at the end of the film. I hope that Tom Cruise uses a few KFM (Keysi Fighting Method) moves like he did in M:i:III.
It would be good if the plot is based on current affairs and the IMF battles a real world threat such as Al-Qaeda, the Taliban, Iranian or North Korean extremists, Somali pirates, etc.
It would be good if they include Henry Czerny, Thandie Newton, Anthony Hopkins, John Polson, Michelle Monaghan, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Maggie Q and Laurence Fishburne and hopefully conclude the series.
I hope that the main villain’s name will be Vanning which was originally going to be the name of the main villain in M:i:III before they changed it to Owen Davian.
I hope that Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts appear in M:i:IV as I’ve always wanted to see Tom Cruise do a movie with each of them.
