The CW is really expanding its DC comic universe, and not just among its three shows (The Flash, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow), but literally in the fabric of time -- Legends of Tomorrow is another time travel series. Excelsior!

At its upfront presentation today for the 2015-2016 television season, the CW released its first official image for the show, which also has confirmed what fans have been wondering for awhile -- who is Caity Lotz playing? The White Canary, by the looks of it. The full roster of heroes is also set, and we are getting our first look at Hawkgirl and Rip Hunter. There are plenty of familiar faces as well, like the Atom, Captain Cold, Heat Wave, and one-half of Firestorm.

It looks like White Canary will be a hero and not a villain (like she is in Birds of Prey), which has been another question. The biggest question of all, though, is how her character will be resurrected from her death in the Arrow-verse. Lazarus Pit time?

Also, the show's main villain and antagonist will be Vandal Savage. Pardon my ignorance on the subject, but according to the comic character's Wiki page that's really good news.

Further, the CW confirmed that Legends will get a midseason start, and that the network plans to have big crossover events events 4th quarter (let's just hope they sync up better than this last mess with Oliver taking a trip to Central City a week early).

And here is the official synopsis for the show:

“DC’S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW”

When heroes alone are not enough… the world needs legends.  Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat — one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself.  Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known? DC’S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW stars Victor Garber (“The Flash,” “Alias”); Brandon Routh (“Arrow,” “Superman Returns”); Arthur Darvill (“Doctor Who”); Caity Lotz (“Arrow”); Ciarra Renee (“Pippin”); Franz Drameh (“Edge of Tomorrow”); with Dominic Purcell (“The Flash,” “Prison Break”); and Wentworth Miller (“The Flash,” “Prison Break”). Based on the characters from DC Comics, DC’S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Greg Berlanti (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” upcoming “Pan”), Marc Guggenheim (“Arrow,” “Eli Stone,” “Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters”), Andrew Kreisberg (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” “Eli Stone,” “Warehouse 13”) and Sarah Schechter (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” upcoming “Pan”).
