Ultimate Collector Series LEGO BATMAN Tumbler and STAR WARS Slave I Possibly Arriving This Summer

     June 1, 2014

In 2000, LEGO began its “Ultimate Collector’s Series”, which are large, expensive sets that are more detailed and aimed at older fans.  For example, a casual fan might buy this LEGO Star Wars X-Wing Starfighter.  It’s $50 and has 560 pieces.  The hardcore fan goes in for the LEGO Star Wars 10240 Red Five X-Wing Starfighter Building Set, which costs $200, has 1558 pieces, measures over 10″ (26cm) high, 20″ (52cm) long, 18″ (46cm) wide, and comes with a display stand and data sheet.

Hardcore collectors will be pleased to hear that the Ultimate Collector’s Series might be adding the LEGO Batman Tumbler and Boba Fett’s Slave I this summer.  Hit the jump for more.

According to The Brick Fan, LEGO will likely reveal the Ultimate Collector’s Series Batman Tumbler at San Diego Comic-Con in July.  Additionally, Brickpicker reports that the set will retail for $199.99.  If this is too rich for your blood, there’s currently a minibag LEGOTumbler that will set you back $8.75.  Live the dream.

Additionally, The Brick Fan also reports that UCS is adding Boba Fett’s Slave I, which “will include a brand new Boba Fett minifigure. The model of the Slave I will be similar in size of the new Imperial Star Destroyer (75055).”  For those curious about what that means, the UCS Imperial Star Destroyer is 50 inches long and weighs nearly 8 pounds.  Brickpicker says the new UCS Slave I will also retail for $199.

It’s worth noting that neither one of these sets has been officially confirmed, but I’m sure they’ll sell like crazy if/when they’re announced.  Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to gaze wistfully at this UCS Sandcrawler:

There’s already several Lego versions of the Tumbler, so the detail better be significantly better. If not, I’m just back to hoping they’ll finally do one of the Burton/ Keaton mobile one day.

The tumbler sucks em balls. Nolan’s excuse to be completely unimaginative in the name of “realism”. What a hack ass pussy.

I have a bunch of the UCS sets. I used to buy one when I was working space shuttle missions and had odd shitt hours. the X-wing was the first set, then tie advance fighter, eventually worked my way up to the Death Star II which was kind of boring since the under construction side took forever to build twice. I ran out of room to display the sets though cause they are so large and don’t fit on standard shelves.

To correct a few of Matt’s points:

    - The mini Tumbler should only set you back about $3.99, and is available at the front checkout of most Target stores
    - The Slave 1 is roughly the size of the new Star Destroyer being released this summer, NOT the mammoth Super Star Destroyer from several years ago
