Les Miserables has been one of my most-anticipated films of the year, and I’m happy to report that it’s very good.  If you’re not familiar with the stage version, I’m not sure how you’ll react, but fans will be almost certainly be taken by what director Tom Hooper has accomplished with his screen adaptation.  It’s a big, bold musical at its finest, and I’m not ashamed to admit that I got choked up at various moments throughout the picture.

I’m pleased to announce that we will be giving away 5 pairs of passes to the Atlanta screening of Les Miserables.  Hit the jump to find out how you can check out the film early and for free.  Les Miserables opens on December 25th.

To enter for a chance to win a pass for you and a guest, send an e-mail to Collider.Passes@gmail.com with the subject line “LES MISERABLES”.  The screening is on Tuesday, December 18th at 7:00pm at Atlantic Station, so don’t enter if you think you’ll be unavailable.  Please note that a pass is not a ticket.  To guarantee a seat, please arrive at the theater early since seating is first come, first serve.

And here’s the official synopsis for Les Miserables:

Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, Les Miserables tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption–a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. Jackman plays ex-prisoner Jean Valjean, hunted for decades by the ruthless policeman Javert (Crowe) after he breaks parole. When Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine’s (Hathaway) young daughter, Cosette, their lives change forever.
