A new TV Spot has gone online for Tom Hooper’s adaptation of Les Miserables.  Like the trailer, it’s set to Fantine (Anne Hathaway) singing “I Dreamed a Dream”, but this spot features new footage, and all of which looks good.  The only curious thing about the trailer, the behind-the-scenes featurette, set photos, official images, and now this TV spot is that none of them have showed Thénardiers (played by Sacha Baron Cohen and Helena Bonham Carter).  Would Hooper really cut out one of the musical’s most memorable numbers, “Master of the House”?

Hit the jump to check out the TV spot.  The film also stars Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne, and Samantha BarksLes Miserables opens December 25th.

Here’s the official synopsis for Les Miserables:

Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, Les Miserables tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption–a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. Jackman plays ex-prisoner Jean Valjean, hunted for decades by the ruthless policeman Javert (Crowe) after he breaks parole. When Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine’s (Hathaway) young daughter, Cosette, their lives change forever.

hopefully he did…..that song just doesn’t fit

  • Michael Horne

Of course it fits. It’s comic relief leading to a horrible realisation of the situation Cosette is in. i.e. You’re laughing along with it and then you realise that the Thenardiers are bloody horrible people.

Matt… I’m not sure how NOT showing two supporting characters sing a song in a trailer is different to not showing any other character not singing a song. Just because Bring Him Home isn’t featured in the trailer doesn’t mean that it’s been cut.

Frankly, I can’t see them cutting any song in its entirety… Though I can think of some they could cut down.

There is no way he cut the Thenardiers. First of all they’re important characters, because valjean gets Cosette from them and second arent Helenas and Sashas names on some of the posters. If he cut the Thenardiers, it would really upset the fans of the musical.
