leslie-mann-vacation-rebootWith production currently underway in Louisiana, Variety reports that Leslie Mann has signed on to play sister Audrey Griswold to Ed Helms’ Rusty Griswold in New Line’s Vacation reboot.  Horrible Bosses screenwriters John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldestein make their directorial debut on the project, which finds the adult Rusty taking his kids on a family trip similar to the one he took as a boy.  Christina Applegate plays his wife, Skyler Gisondo and Steele Stebbins play their sons, and Chris Hemsworth is in negotiations to play Audrey’s husband.  Charlie Day is also in talks to make an appearance, and Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo are poised to make cameos as well.

Additionally, The Wrap reports that Billy Bob Thornton is in talks to join the Warner Bros. political dramedy Our Brand Is Crisis.  David Gordon Green is set to direct, Sandra Bullock is onboard to star, and George Clooney and Grant Heslov are producing through their Smokehouse Pictures banner.  Based on the 2005 documentary of the same name, the story revolves around the use of American political campaign strategies in Bolivia.  Scoot McNairy is set to co-star in the Warner Bros. film, while Bullock will play a retired American political consultant.

Finally, after his military turn in Lone Survivor, Variety reports that Ben Foster is joining the cast of Disney’s Coast Guard drama The Finest Hours.  Directed by Craig Gillespie (Million Dollar Arm), the pic is based on the true story of a 1952 rescue attempt by the Coast Guard involving a pair of oil tankers that were destroyed during a blizzard.  Chris Pine, Casey Affleck, and Holliday Grainger are already onboard, and production is currently underway in Massachusetts.
