The first teaser trailer for director Steven Spielberg‘s Lincoln has been released.  The teaser comes just days ahead of the first full trailer and live Google+ Q&A with Spielberg and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.  The teaser gives us our first look at Daniel Day-Lewis in motion, though we only see glimpses of him as the titular President.  There’s also a shot of who appears to be David Oyelowo dressed in Union attire as he turns and walks away from Lincoln.  A narration of the Gettysburg address plays over scenes of Civil War combat, but who is speaking remains unclear for the moment.

  1. Ugh, I would like to give my thoughts on the trailer, but it looks like ill have to give my thoughts on the trailer’s trailer: Hard to tell, becuase it was a trailer for a trailer. At least he looks the part.

  2. I’m really loving the atmosphere and look of this film. Granted I’ve only seen 30 second lol but I seriously think this is going to be a fantastic film given the material Spielberg and co. have to work with. Oh, and it has DDL. Lincoln FTW!

  3. Um…so is Gordon-Levitt a part of this project, or is he just hanging out with Spielberg for whatever reason?

Also, I think David is the one reciting the Gettysburg. You see him speaking the words as he turns from Lincoln.

  4. Is it just me or does the voice not really sound right? I’m not saying like Banes voice bad but I dont really hear that voice when I think of Lincoln. But look-wise my god he’s perfect!

  5. Would be nice to see a glimpse of Lincoln finally making peace with Bella Swan and the Cullens…wait…what….that’s not what Lincoln does? Oh, darn.

  7. —Found Lewis’s performance stilted.

Like Sean Penn and Meryl Streep —he’s NOT an actor of depth.

Like Penn and Streep he DOES deliver astonishing impersonations
and is able to sustain them through an entire film.

AGAIN —NO character development, NO revelation, NO depth.

May not be his fault. franchise slum Hollywood threw over character
development along with plot development and soundtracks —decades ago. . .
