Luc Besson‘s production company EuropaCorp has released the first five minutes of their latest slick action movie, Lockout. The clip highlights two of the three things I want from the movie. It’s funny and full of great action, often at the same time. However, for a movie set at a maximum security prison in outer space, this clip is sadly earthbound. You can see more science fiction-y action in previously released clips here, or hit the jump to watch the first five minutes. Guy Pearce, Maggie Grace, Vincent Regan, Joseph Gilgun, Lennie James, and Peter Stormare star, directed by James Mather and Stephen St. Leger. Lockout opens on April 13.

“I’m being beaten up by a guy called Rupert?” I love this Guy.
Official synopsis:
Starring Guy Pearce and Maggie Grace and set in the near future, LOCKOUT follows a falsely convicted ex- government agent (Pearce), whose one chance at obtaining freedom lies in the dangerous mission of rescuing the President’s daughter (Grace) from rioting convicts at an outer space maximum security prison.

wow
Lemme guess, 4:55 seconds of exposition?
Boring, lazy, predictable, rehash of the same sh** I’ve seen for the past 32 years.
Looks like something a young Bruce willis would have down back in 1990.
looks like could be a entertaining film . . . . . .
Now, I like that. No superheroes, no teenage love triangles, and a charismatic lead.
Fingers crossed for Guy Pierce. In what seems like forever ago, Guy Pierce was on the cusp of becoming a true A-list actor in Hollywood after his turns in Rules of Engagement, Memento and the Count of Monte Cristo. Then he got the lead in a big tent pole film — The Time Machine, a new take on the HG Wells story. It didn’t do so well.
After that, Pierce kinda fell off the major map. I don’t know if this was his decision or if Hollywood shied away, but I’m excited to see him popping up in a slew of films that look great. Lockout, worries me. I hope this doesn’t slow his momentum again. I think he’s a pretty solid performer.
number one if youre gunna call TIME MACHINE a TENTPOLE movie then you hafta consider CRISTO a tentpole movie and by no means do i mean that a compliment to either movie. both were horrible and came out in the same year and only like two months from eachother and not one opening in the summer. with teh combination of Time machine and Cristo i think he figured he should go back to waht he does best. indie character films. and honestly only good movies to his name are L.A Confidential, Momento, Rules of Enagement and the proposition.not gunna give him Kings Speech or Hurt locker cause he just wasnt a huge part in those. i am a fan. and i agree hope he gets more work
Animal Kingdom was solid
if mass effect becomes a movie, pearce should play shepard!
Holy balls, that was some of the worst shaky cam I’ve seen yet. I’m not usually one to complain about it, but this was downright disorienting.
It might not hurt that I spent the last hour prior to this checking out THE RAID’s production blog. Some damn fine work there.
Looks very creative. Him trying to jump through the window and it not breaking sold me on this movie. This will be the kind of movie that comes and gos at the box office, but people will look back at it 5 years from now and talk about how underrated it is.
