The internet has been abuzz ever since a rumor spread that Alice Eve, Diane Kruger and Rosamund Pike are in contention for a female lead in Zack Snyder’s upcoming Superman reboot. Even moreso when it was revealed that the role in question was not Lois Lane — who, someone, somewhere exclaimed was not going to feature in the film. Well, good news for Supe fans: Latino Review has just received word from a “reliable source” that Lois Lane will indeed be in the film and that the role Eve, Kruger and Pike are vying for is that of the Kryptonian villainous Ursa, who, fans may recall, is General Zod’s right hand man — er, woman. Sarah Douglass portrayed the character in Superman II to memorable results, and damn near wrecked all of Metropolis attempting to take down the son of Jor-El. More after the jump.

Sounds like our big blue boy scout (aka Henry Cavill)  may have to “Kneel before Zod!” after all, despite earlier interviews in which Snyder implied otherwise. Then again, none of this is confirmed and could just be one big ugly lie. Either way, are the three aforementioned actresses tough enough to take on such a role? Can you see the lovely Kruger slugging it out with Superman? Personally, I’m inclined to go with Brendan’s speculation that the three blonds are duking it out for the Catherine Grant role. Now that’s something Kruger and co. could pull off.

Still, I would die to see Superman take on Zod again, especially using contemporary special FX. Stay tuned for more updates.

  1. I think overall the filmmaker has to give us new villains, new love interests and new stories. I hope Lex Luthor and General Zod are excluded from the Superman movies for a while and that they utilise the villains that weren’t included in the previous films.

  2. Been There Done That! Ursa has ALREADY been used. Superman and Superman II, Thank you very much. Why won’t they give us NEW VILLAINS?

    Atomic Skull
    Bizarro
    Bloodsport
    Brainiac
    Bruno Mannheim
    Conduit
    Cyborg Superman
    Darkseid
    Doomsday
    Faora
    Gog
    Imperiex
    Intergang
    Jax-Ur
    Kryptonite Man
    Livewire
    Mala
    Mercy Graves
    Metallo
    Mongul
    Morgan Edge
    Mr. Mxyzptlk
    Parasite
    Prankster
    Sam Lane
    Silver Banshee
    Solaris
    Superboy-Prime
    Superman Revenge Squad
    Terra-Man
    Titano
    Toyman
    Ultra-Humanite
    Ultraman

No one wants old villains, don’t they get it??

    • What a joke!! This is funny! I love posts like this. people who act like they have a knowledge of characters but dont know anything. Seriously?? You think they would put Titano as a movie villain?? Look pal, just cause you want new villains doesnt mean you have to cut and paste the Superman rogues gallery off of another website. (and don’t act like you didn’t cause your list is in alphabetical order lolol) I am all for new villains but stop throwing ot random names for the sake of throwing out random names.

  3. Oh PUH-LEASE! Latino Review has been known to be wrong at times so I’m taking this with a grain of salt. I hope Lois Lane is in the movie…it wouldn’t quite be the same without the chain-smoking, foul mouthed reporter. I also hope they choose a new villain. Ursa and General Zod…they are play out as is Lex Luthor. I agree with Frank in that Superman has a vast untapped rogue gallery that needs to be explored but oh well…I wouldn’t be surprised it the Superman movie curse lives on.

  4. I agree…don’t give us a re-do of Superman 2. That could have been what was wrong with Superman Returns…too much like a re-do, been there, done that. Less Lois. I think Darksied would be good as it would introduce him and Apokolips and New Genesis…taking us film fans to new worlds. The producers could also use Man of Steel to introduce other superheros (Green Lantern cameo?), leading to a Justice League or other spin off. Lex could be in MOS, but have him with Metallo and in his power suit.

In any case, this movie should have more action battles and lead into a sequel. I thought Superman Returns was great, as was Singer and Routh. The problem was it was to “romantic,” not enough real action battles. It really felt like I had seen the movie before. And I think as a homage/tribute to the Reeves films, it succeeded. And it should have incorporated a sequel from the start.

  5. The idea of Zod & Co. being in the Superman reboot is certainly exciting, but I’d really like to see some villains that haven’t been depicted on screen before. Give us Bizarro, Braniac, Doomsday, Metallo… or fucking DARKSEID!
