We have some international posters to share with you tonight so let’s take a look:

  • Two Chinese posters from Rian Johnson’s Looper give us the first look at Qing Xu, along with stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Emily Blunt and Bruce Willis.  Looper opens September 28th.
  • Another Argo poster, this time from the UK.  Ben Affleck’s starring/directorial effort opens October 12th and also stars Bryan Cranston and John Goodman.
  • A French poster for Paul Thomas Anderson’s The Master shows off a decidedly divisive Rorschach inkblot.  The Master, starring Philip Seymour Hoffman, Joaquin Phoenix and Amy Adams opens September 21st domestically.
  • Director Michael Haneke‘s Palme d’Or-winning film Amoursports a new companion poster with Emmanuelle Riva to the one featuring Jean-Louis Trintignant that was previously released. Amour will next appear domestically at the New York Film Festival on October 5th.

Hit the jump for the posters and synopses.

The following posters come courtesy of IMPAwards.  First up, let’s take a look at the Chinese poster and banner for Looper, after the synopsis:

In the futuristic action thriller Looper, time travel will be invented – but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they will send their target 30 years into the past, where a “looper” – a hired gun, like Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) – is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good… until the day the mob decides to “close the loop,” sending back Joe’s future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination. The film is written and directed by Rian Johnson and also stars Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, and Jeff Daniels. Ram Bergman and James D. Stern produce.

Here’s the UK poster for Argo with synopsis:

Based on true events, “Argo” chronicles the life-or-death covert operation to rescue six Americans, which unfolded behind the scenes of the Iran hostage crisis—the truth of which was unknown by the public for decades.  On November 4, 1979, as the Iranian revolution reaches its boiling point, militants storm the U.S. embassy in Tehran, taking 52 Americans hostage. But, in the midst of the chaos, six Americans manage to slip away and find refuge in the home of the Canadian ambassador. Knowing it is only a matter of time before the six are found out and likely killed, a CIA “exfiltration” specialist named Tony Mendez (Affleck) comes up with a risky plan to get them safely out of the country. A plan so incredible, it could only happen in the movies.

Let’s take a look at how the French view The Master:

A striking portrait of drifters and seekers in post World War II America, Paul Thomas Anderson’s The Master unfolds the journey of a Naval veteran (Joaquin Phoenix) who arrives home from war unsettled and uncertain of his future — until he is tantalized by The Cause and its charismatic leader (Philip SeymourHoffman).

Here’s the synopsis for Amour followed by both posters:

In the film, Georges (Trintignant) and Anne (Riva) are in their eighties. They are cultivated, retired music teachers. Their daughter (Huppert), who is also a musician, lives abroad with her family.  One day, Anne has an attack. The couple’s bond of love is severely tested.
