At the end of Netflix’s new season of Daredevil, there’s a treat. No, it’s not the gold star you get for bingeing the show in less than 24 hours, it’s a teaser trailer for the next Defenders series: Luke Cage. The indestructible vigilante Cage (Mike Colter) was introduced last year in Jessica Jones’ first season, and ever since I have hardly been able to wait to see how they will adapt the hero in his own series.

This sneak peak gives us a fairly strong answer: badass. In it, we see Luke showing up at a gym, telling some goons pointing guns at him, “I guess you guys haven’t heard about me.” Evidently not, since they fire away at him, which of course, he is impervious to. “I’m about sick of always have to buy new clothes,” he says in the most menacing way possible (and yet, the humor! I love it).

Don’t worry, it’s separated from the Daredevil finale episode so there are no spoilers. Then, you can keep the spirit of the clip alive by reminiscing to the track that plays over the credits: Nas’ “Made You Look.”  [UPDATE: The embedded spot is now viewable below.]

According to Netflix, the series official longline so far is:

In this Marvel live action series, a street-fighting ex-con battles crime on the streets of New York as the Super Hero, Luke Cage

We’ve gotten quite a few updates on the various Defenders series lately, most notably the fact that Game of ThronesFinn Jones will be taking the lead as Danny Rand, a.k.a. Iron Fist in that upcoming series. From what I’ve heard about his comic iteration, he’s close friends with Luke Cage, which makes me think he could well be introduced in the Cage series in order to help connect / launch Iron Fist. We'll know soon! (But not soon enough).

Luke Cage is set to premiere September 30th on Netflix -- check out the logo, as well:
