Netflix has released a new Luke Cage featurette. For those who didn’t watch Jessica Jones (go watch it, now!), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) is a super-strong crimefighter with impenetrable skin. In his solo series, the character has moved to Harlem to try and keep his head down and stay out of trouble, but when he discovers that Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes (Mahershala Ali, who deserves a Best Supporting Actor nomination for his work in Moonlight) is running guns through the neighborhood, Cage can’t sit idly by and do nothing.

This featurette does a good job of quickly breaking down the stakes of the season and explaining who Luke Cage is. What makes him stand apart from the previous two defenders we’ve seen, Daredevil and Jessica Jones, is that he doesn’t seem encumbered by any self-doubt. Whereas Daredevil wrestled with if he should kill and Jones’ struggled with PTSD, Cage seems to have his shit together, and it seems like he’s the Captain America of the street-level heroes. I can’t wait to see this show.

Check out the featurette below, and click here to read Allison’s review. The show also stars Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard, Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Theo Rossi as Shades, Frank Whaley as Rafael Scarfe, and Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple. Luke Cage premieres on Netflix on September 30th.

Here’s the official synopsis for Luke Cage:

After a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable skin, Luke Cage (Mike Colter) becomes a fugitive trying to rebuild his life in modern day Harlem, New York City. But he is soon pulled out of the shadows and must fight a battle for the heart of his city – forcing him to confront a past he had tried to bury.
