Principal actors Liam Neeson, Maggie Grace and Famke Janssen are already slated to return for the Taken sequel, but director Olivier Megaton (Colombiana) needs new actors to replace all the ones Bryan Mills (Neeson) killed in the original. We know the villain will be Rade Serbedzija (Snatch), playing the father of one of the slain kidnappers who takes Mills and his ex-wife (Janssen) hostage. Luke Grimes (Brothers & Sisters) has been cast as the love interest of Mills’ daughter (Grace) and will most likely play a part in helping her rescue her parents.

In other casting news, Barry Sloane (Holby City) will join Michelle Monaghan (Source Code) and Michael Keaton as Keaton’s partner in crime in Penthouse North. Lastly, Jerry Ferrara (Entourage) has been added to the cast of airplane-thriller, 7500. The film, by director Takashi Shimizu (The Grudge) also stars Ryan Kwanten, Amy Smart, Leslie Bibb and Jamie Chung. Hit the jump for more on each project.

The sequel will feature the return of screenwriters Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen, who are hoping to repeat the surprise success of the original. Grimes was most recently in the news for his addition to the shortlist of male leads for Roland Emmerich’s Singularity. Taken 2 hits theaters on October 5th, 2012.

Variety also reported on Sloane’s role to accompany Keaton on his crime spree in Penthouse North. The film, recently picked up by Dimension, stars Monaghan as a blind photojournalist who happens to have “a fortune in stolen diamonds hidden in her penthouse apartment.” Sloane will play Chad, who acts the part of helpful stranger in order to glean necessary information about his mark. But all does not go well for Chad, as he finds his life in danger and must rely on his sadistic boss (Keaton) to save him. Joseph Ruben (Sleeping with the Enemy) is directing from a David Loughery (Obsessed) script.

Finally, Deadline reported on the addition of Ferrara to 7500. The pic centers on a collection of passengers on an international flight who experience strange events after the mysterious death of a passenger. 7500 also stars Christian Serratos (The Twilight Saga) and Scout Taylor-Compton (Halloween).

I still would have preferred Taken 2 to be about the boss kidnapping both women and then tempting Mr Mills to come at him . . . but o snap this time Mr Mills has his entire team there to help kick some major ass.

I still don’t understand why the guy who broke down the tape for him in the first movie wasn’t like hey this is your daughter we are talking about, let me come with you, you need all the help you can get. Even though he was still bad ass about everything and for the sake of it being a movie, I understand it was a one man thing, but in real life, how much more effective do you think he would have been with another highly trained preventer on his side, because in all reality, the bad guys would have probably been smart enough to chain him to something more secure then a pipe and he should have been killed quietly, but if he had a partner there, he would have been saved.

Maybe they just weren’t as close of friends as you presume. Notice the age difference between them, as well as the way he treats Liam. Liam was more of a father type figure for him. I’m sure he offered his assistance but Liam turned him down. One person is more discrete and faster too.
