Warner Bros. has released the final trailer for Mad Max: Fury Road, director George Miller’s upcoming continuation of the franchise he first launched in 1979. The movie stars Tom Hardy as Mad Max, who joins up with Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron) as they flee across the post-apocalyptic wasteland from a gang of ruthless warlords. Not to be a broken record, but I’m still insanely excited for this movie. It feels like it could be a breath of fresh air for the modern blockbuster era: an unabashedly nutty, unique, and R-rated affair with explosions and one-armed badasses to boot.

This final trailer features a bit of new footage, but the centerpiece is that it opens with what’s mostly a full clip from the film, featuring Theron’s character. Again, I’m enthused that Fury Road exists, and major credit goes to Warner Bros. for marketing the hell out of this thing. If the film turns out to be as good as it looks, here’s hoping Miller gets to make his sequels, which he’s already planned.

Here’s the official synopsis for Mad Max: Fury Road:

Haunted by his turbulent past, Mad Max believes the best way to survive is to wander alone.  Nevertheless, he becomes swept up with a group fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig driven by an elite Imperator, Furiosa.  They are escaping a Citadel tyrannized by the Immortan Joe, from whom something irreplaceable has been taken.  Enraged, the Warlord marshals all his gangs and pursues the rebels ruthlessly in the high-octane Road War that follows.
