Here’s the official synopsis of Mad Max: Fury Road:

MAD MAX: FURY ROAD is the fourth film of George Miller‘s Road Warrior/Mad Max franchise co-written and directed by Miller. The post-apocalyptic action film is set in the furthest reaches of our planet, in a stark desert landscape where humanity is broken, and most everyone is crazed fighting for the necessities of life.

Within this world of fire and blood exist two rebels on the run who just might be able to restore order… There’s Max (played by TOM HARDY from The Dark Knight Rises), a man of action and a man of few words, who seeks peace of mind following the loss of his wife and child in the aftermath of the chaos.

And… Furiosa (played by CHARLIZE THERON from Prometheus), a woman of action and a woman who believes her path to survival may be achieved if she can make it across the desert back to her childhood homeland.

It really is amazing what Tom Hardy can do with just his eyes.

I was going to say how in that top one how much he looks like the guy who played Bane. HA!

  • scheebles

Three pics of Max. Gonna wait to hear about how Max isn’t in the movie enough…

How much does he look Like Mel Gibson in that last picture? Or is it just me?

      Photoshop does magical things.

Does Hardy really have to have another mask covering much of his face…again?

Didn’t like the trailer at all. Too much CGI for my taste, I thought I was watching an ad for new Michael Bay’s movie. The only good part was Charlize Theron, who somehow looks even better with short hair and black make-up than she normally does. Oh well, I will reserve my final judgment until after the release, though I’m not really hopeful.

lol shows how much you know …because the reason people are stoked for this is because of his aversion to CG. And i thought the exact opposite how, the trailer looked FULL of traditional/practical effects… dingus

You are right, I don’t know. I’m judging based on what I saw in the trailer and while there wasn’t nearly as much CGI as Bay uses (I was exaggerating to make a point), there still was too much for my taste. Some scenic shots very clearly enhanced with CGI, the big tornado/sand storm scene was CGI of course (actually there were two of them). The flares at the start seemed like CGI to me. Some of the fight scenes later were either done before green screen or at least enhanced with CGI. Then some of the explosions, fire tornado. Lightning bolts. Then there is that one scene, where guy on a pole is holding a girl – which screamed green screen at me. Also some fake sparks.I probably forgot some other CGI effects, but I think I made my point. And it’s really not helping that is he is using this fake over-saturated coloration. What I like about the old MM was its very realistic colors – everything was a sort of drab, like a desert, while this installment looks like 300 (movie) filter applied.

But you are right, there are some great practical stunts. The car at the start that is spinning and some fight scenes look great and you rarely see those in movies anymore. But base on this trailer alone there seems to be too much CGI for me to enjoy it as a new MM movie.
