The fourth installment of the Mad Max franchise, Mad Max: Fury Road, is now officially set to open on May 15, 2015.  That’s almost exactly 30 years since the last film, Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, graced the screens.  (Feel old yet?)  Franchise director George Miller returns for this iteration, which stars Tom Hardy (The Dark Knight Rises) as Max Rockatansky, along with Nicholas Hoult, Charlize Theron, Mel Gibson, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Zoë Kravitz, and Riley Keough.  No plot details are available at this time and there’s no official statement as to the release date push back just yet.

Summer 2015 is looking to be one of the biggest ever.  This release date is otherwise unoccupied, but is just two week’s after Marvel’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron, and a week before Brad Bird’s Tomorrowland and Paul Feig’s Susan Cooper.

    Firstly, YES! FINALLY A DATE!
Secondly, for their hope those reshoots better not of bloated the budget up too high, or else they are basically screwed releasing the film at that time. And Miller reallly needs a hit.

I am really looking forward to this. I like Hardy and I’m not a uber liberal that thinks Gibson is some hateful antisemite and instead I recognize that Gibson is a hell of an actor so the main cast is exciting but that being said I don’t think that Victoria’s Secret Models and daughters of singers are actors just because they have been rich their whole life and were able to afford beautiful bodies.

Great cast and source material. Hardy should kill the role, and Hoult and Theron are on a role. Looking forward to Mel Gibson…

Is Mel Gibson actually confirmed to be in the movie?

    • sunshine

i haven’t heard anything about that at all.

Mel Gibson isn’t in the movie. Tom Hardy is playing his character from the originals.

I believe they said that Mel Gibson is only going to have a cameo has a drifter on the road, and not a full road. Hopefully he is in it more, but we’ll just have to see.

maybe Hardy will be playing Gibson’s character son

I believe that Tom Hardy is a grown-up Feral Kid (the little boy w/the boomerang) from Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior. I think he has taken on the Max Rockatansky persona. Miller has stated that this film takes place years after the Road Warrior. I see that Mad Mel is in this film as he is listed in the credits. This is a surprise as Mel has always stated that he would not put on the leather ever again.

If they were REALLY smart they’d make this one a sequel like Shaft. Have the “new” road warrior meet the “old” one along the way. But, no, this one will be another actor pretending to be Mel Gibson as much as possible while claiming it’s “his” role now. Yeah, sure, that’s why you look so completely different…

MAY ’15??! People realize we’re still only two months away from 2014…what the F is taking this remake sooo damn long? What exactly makes this movie such a priority to draw it out so long? I’m fcking tired of waiting for this mediocrity…

Yeah, great. They waited until Mel Gibson was too old. So they could use a cheaper actor and make a worse piece of commercial shit out of it.

    Same story: Snake Plissken…

Cheaper actor? You obviously don’t keep up with current affairs
