At this point, thanks to the film’s absolutely killer marketing campaign, it doesn’t really matter what anyone says. I’m walking into my screening of Mad Max: Fury Road as pumped as ever. But, then again, it certainly doesn’t hurt that all of the early reviews pouring in for the franchise’s fourth installment are insanely positive.

Check out the first Mad Max: Fury Road reviews and reactions below. The film is due in theaters in 3D on May 15th and stars Tom HardyCharlize TheronNicholas HoultRiley Keough, Zoe Kravitz, Courtney EatonRosie Huntington-Whiteley, Nathan Jones and Abbey Lee.

Here’s an excerpt from Variety’s review:

“Thirty years have passed since our last visit to George Miller’s sun-scorched post-apocalyptic wasteland, and yet “worth the wait” still seems a puny response to the two hours of ferocious, unfettered B-movie bliss offered by ‘Mad Max: Fury Road.'”

Here’s a bit from Vanity Fair:

“Fury Road is a bracing, nervy, weirdo adventure that more than lives up to its beautifully cut trailers. I doubt there will be a more rousing potential blockbuster released this summer. Go see it. It’s maddeningly good.”

This comes from ComingSoon‘s review:

“What some may find surprising about Miller’s latest venture is that it’s a rare feminist-friendly action movie in which Theron’s Furiosa and the women she’s saving have far more to say and do, constantly proving themselves to be far more logical and practical than the men chasing after them.”

And here’s a quote from HitFix’s review:

“This is the richest of the four films thematically. It’s the best script in the series overall. The way it grapples with ideas of both patriarchy and matriarchy, and the world feels lived in. It overwhelmed me. It was so much  more than I hoped it would be, so much more than Hollywood has convinced us any blockbuster needs to be. George Miller is still the King; long live Mad Max.”
