In preparation for the two-hour season five premiere of Mad Men on March 25th, AMC has rolled out some new marketing. It’s a tricky thing to do, and do well, when your popular show centers on the men and women of an ad agency, but as usual they’ve nailed it. With all the color and clutter of New York City’s skyline vying for your visual attention, these clean and minimalist billboards are refreshing, eye-catching and iconic. We’ve also got the first promo video for season five which ties in nicely to the rest of the marketing. Mad Men, starring Jon Hamm, Elisabeth Moss and Vincent Kartheiser, returns to AMC on March 25th. Hit the jump to check out the marketing.

Here’s the synopsis and premise of Mad Men for those new to the show:

Set in 1960s New York, the sexy, stylized and provocative AMC drama Mad Men follows the lives of the ruthlessly competitive men and women of Madison Avenue advertising, an ego-driven world where key players make an art of the sell.

The Premise: The series revolves around the conflicted world of Don Draper (Hamm), the biggest ad man (and ladies man) in the business, and his colleagues at the Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce Advertising Agency. As Don makes the plays in the boardroom and the bedroom, he struggles to stay a step ahead of the rapidly changing times and the young executives nipping at his heels. The series also depicts authentically the roles of men and women in this era while exploring the true human nature beneath the guise of 1960s traditional family values.

  1. Thought the whole falling logo was causing controversy? While I don’t have a particular problem with it (although I do feel and understand those who may), It doesn’t make a lot of sense to blow up the image and place it on the sides of large building. Feel like they’re just asking for more trouble.

  2. Well Done Collider! If you gathered all those photos, thanks for that.

What a great advertising campaign….about a show about advertising campaigns (sort of).
