Disney has released a slew of material from its upcoming villain origin tale Maleficent.  Directed by Robert Stromberg, the film tells the story of how the titular Sleeping Beauty villain turned antagonist, as Angelina Jolie plays a woman whose betrayal sets off a drive of revenge and a fierce desire to protect the moors over which she presides.  In anticipation of the film’s release next weekend, Disney has unveiled a batch of clips, six minutes of behind-the-scenes footage, and a four-minute clip of the recording of James Newton Howard’s score.  For those itching to see this new spin on the classic tale, these supplements should tide you over for the next seven days.

Here’s the official synopsis for Maleficent:

“Maleficent” explores the untold story of Disney’s most iconic villain from the classic “Sleeping Beauty” and the elements of her betrayal that ultimately turn her pure heart to stone. Driven by revenge and a fierce desire to protect the moors over which she presides, Maleficent cruelly places an irrevocable curse upon the human king’s newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Aurora is caught in the middle of the seething conflict between the forest kingdom she has grown to love and the human kingdom that holds her legacy. Maleficent realizes that Aurora may hold the key to peace in the land and is forced to take drastic actions that will change both worlds forever.
