New TV Spot and Banner for MAN OF STEEL Starring Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, and Michael Shannon

     May 6, 2013

Warner Bros. has released a new TV spot and banner poster for director Zack Snyder’s Superman film Man of Steel.  The 30-second spot does a nice job of teasing the grounded, character-centric nature of the pic while also highlighting the epic action that awaits audiences.  All of the footage is backed by Hans Zimmer’s pulsing new Superman theme, and we also get to see some sort of massive-looking ship making ground on Earth.  While the initial trailers were fairly small in scale, the most recent spots are doing a great job of teasing the grand set pieces that we’ll hopefully be seeing throughout the film.

Hit the jump to watch the new TV spot and to see the new banner.  The film stars Henry Cavill, Amy AdamsMichael Shannon, Kevin CostnerDiane LaneLaurence FisburneAntje Traue, and Russell Crowe.  Man of Steel opens in 3D on June 14th.

Here’s the official synopsis for Man of Steel:

In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Cavill) is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question – Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman,” not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.

This may not beat Iron Man 3 in the box office, but Man of Steel is going to be the better all around movie. This has the potential to be the best comic book movie of all time.

    • Grayden

Pretty much. But if it’s the better movie, it will eventually beat IM3. I’m only seeing IM3 once. It was fun and whatnot, but still not as good as the first. If Man of Steel ends up being everything I hope it will be, I’ll be seeing more than once.

  • Doug

I just hope that WB doesn’t expect this to do bigger #s than IM3 because it won’t. I want sequels and a DC universe, so I’m just hoping it makes enough to warrant that.

I think, realistically, it will probably do around $700 million Worldwide. If they keep up these awesome TV Spots, then I think it’s going to have a monster opening weekend. I’m thinking somewhere in the neighborhood of $130 million domestically. Definitely going to be one helluva movie!

    • Ok

Agreed. Marvel has it down to where they can show a picture of the hulk on the big screen for 2 hours and still make hundreds of millions. Iron Man 3 was good but it didn’t shoot to prove anything, or even have to. Marvel has locked in market comfort, which is the best time for DC to really show what they are worth.

Well, this if frustrating. My optimism scrapes me through, but I can’t tell how this film is REALLY going to be. Alternately I’m turned on/off by every new trailer/ad.

Really looking forward to this! I hope it makes enough to warrant another with Canvill performance. Digging the new soundtrack as well.
