New MAN OF STEEL TV Spots Reveal More Footage Than You Probably Want to See before the Movie but It’s So Damn Good That You’ll Enjoy It Anyway!

     May 27, 2013

When Superman (Henry Cavill) isn’t chowing down on Hardee’s burgers, he’s busy saving the world from the likes of General Zod (Michael Shannon).  Three new TV spots for Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel showcase the various relationships and powers of the title hero.  We get more background on Zod’s motives, a wider look at the rampant destruction of, presumably, Metropolis and still more explanation of why an “S” is not always necessarily an “S.”

Also starring Amy Adams, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne and Russell Crowe, Man of Steel opens June 14th.  Hit the jump for three new TV spots.

Check out the new TV spots for Man of Steel below (via Heat Vision):

Here’s the official synopsis for Man of Steel:

In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Cavill) is a young twenty-something journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question – Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman,” not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.

Only if your first-born is named Kal-El! ;)

      • $3256121

Damn Nicholas Cage beat me to it

  • $3256121

J/K BTW. Super baby stays with mama and papa :)

  • furion77

This is going to be good

  • Karkaju

Holy crap. I’m almost rooting for a Batman reboot with this team by now.

    • indy42

You realize it’s the same people from the previous Batman reboot, right?

      • Karkaju

Sure, although in different capacities and not the same director. Both have very different styles and, while I was against a reboot, after TDKR and what I’ve seen so far I think I might not be such a bad idea after all.

      • indy42

Same writers and producers though, and those are the people with (arguably) the biggest control over the direction of a reboot, and they already rebooted Batman.

Basically all you’re saying is you’d like to see Zack Snyder do a Batman movie.

      • Joe

Actually Karkaju could have a point there!

  • Buzzfunk

And finally the reason why i was worried that Snider was directing this. Tons of bad CGI, over the top action ala shitty Avengers. So much for being ‘grounded’.

    • Joe

      Could i suggest Nicklelodean?

      • Buzzfunk

Nameless Joe, nice try. This is a free country and i can voice my opinion just like you can yours. Personal insults wont work. Already booked a ticket a week ago so its not like im not going to see and its not like i dont want it to be good.

      • Joe

Bro, it wasn’t meant to be an insult. Nickelodeon was the only thing i could think off which doesn’t offer bad cgi and over-the-top action. Apologies if it was taken as an insult.
        Peace bro.
Btw, my name is Joe. :)

P.S. wish i could buy tix to see this where i’m at though. :(

      • spongefist

Don’t back down mate, Sasha Dickyboy is obviously a total tool and your suggestion of Nicklelodian was fantastic, made me laugh.

I’m free to make personal insults, it’s a free country as he reminded me…

If TDKR is a grounded comic book, then Zod help us, the Avengers was incredible. Make them all like The Avengers (not like IM3 though)

      • Joe

IM3 was terrible. So disappointed with that.

      • Bob

Yea, very dissapointing film, IM3 really did suck. Like awful.

      • Joe

Did you watch ST: ID? What did you think of that?

      • Bob

I actually think it was really good. Very entertaining and Benedict Cumberbatch was brilliant. Not better than the first but still great, villian was better than the first imo though.

      • $3256121

Wow I though only me and my best fried though that. It was like “Who are this people? And those jokes are very lame”

Pretty too look at but a mess.

Much like Prometheus although I’m more lenient with the later just based on the fact that it was the first of three, maybe it will make sense in the sequels. But IM3 was the sequel why did they screwed up so much? :(

    • Val-Ak

Zack Snyder is the best visual director for Superhero action. If this CGI is bad for you, imagine if it wasn’t him directing. Over the top action = Superheroes. Do you think you look cool and sophisticated hating on Avengers and Man of Steel? Lol. If you want grounded go watch some documentary, you pretentious and phony asshole.

      • Buzzfunk

        “you pretentious and phony asshole.”

Oh yeah? Hiding behind a Joe Doe name calling someone anthing is easy. Esp. if that person only voiced his concern. I did not insult you personally. But if you wanna go that route, let get it on, brah.

      • Val-Ak

So you talk like you’re black now? Are you? If you aren’t, then you ARE a pretentious phony. Let’s get on what? Virtual fist fight ’cause you can’t defend your opinion? Calling YOU out is particularly easy ’cause you’re an obvious idiot.

    • movienut

what the fuck do you want? a guy on a cable?

      • Buzzfunk

        Smarty pants? You mad, brah?

      • Garc916

Ayo,quit being a db and just wait for the movie. Once you’re done watching and you’re not happy with it, then come and complain. Otherwise STFU. #killurself

    • Sunny James Toppo

i actually agree about the CGI… it doesn’t look good..
i hope it isn’t bad enough to ruin the experience..
      even avengers CGI wasn’t good..
and whats with these shitheads… can’t someone voice their opinion??

      • Joe

a sword has two edges? hence an opinion could elicit a counter opinion?
granted some counter opinions are written by shitheads. lol.

      • Bob

Bad CGI/effects for The Avengers? Your joking right….I mean if your not then that must be the reason The Avengers was nominated for Best Visual effects, sure that makes sense.

Also, the effects look awesome for Man of Steel.

    • chris gault

over the top action is one of the things that made the Avengers very likable to most people puny Sascha.

  • Joe

    Awesome, awesomer, awesomest!

  • Joe

Guys, please read the Man of Steel prequel comic first. Google it! ;)

  • chris gault

This looks silly … just like every other superman production ever … but they’ll get my $5 just because I hope I am wrong.

  • him

Wow. The CGI is perfection incarnate. Who are these blind idiots saying otherwise?

    • Joe

The answer to “who” is in your own reply.
      i.e. “blind idiots”…?

  • Karkaju

On a side note: That scene in the first clip where Supes is on the floor, apparently in
bad shape, reaching out for the sun reminded me of The Dark Knight (the graphic
novel, not the movie) and just got me more excited to see this flick. Completely unrelated, of course, but still, did it for me.

On a second side note: how about we save our hate comments for Matt’s reviews, as always :P

Just kidding, of course. No hate here. Lets just enjoy movies, geek out and have fun :D

    • Jean 2M

Well said, pal. Plus the reason we’re all here is because we have the same passions : movies and comicssssssss ! So let’s all bathe in each others’ drools :E

  • ximan

    Ok……NOW I’m on board.

I’m super excited for this! I do think that some of the CGI isn’t great, but that’s Snyder’s MO. All of his CGI looks the same – Watchmen, Sucker Punch, etc…all pretty phony (you have to admit that – there’s no denying it). I’m hoping that Warner Bros made him step it up. The movie still looks awesome, so even if the visuals are the typical subpar Snyder visuals, I’ll still be excited to see a Supes movie with some real action and real villains (and no Lex Luthor or Kryptonite).

    • DG

I agree with you on Sucker Punch but I thought Watchmen had fantastic visual effects. One of my favorite comic book movies, and I don’t even read comics.

  • Red Leader

You’re a monster, Zod. And I’m going to fuck you up.
