A new Maps to the Stars image along with the Italian teaser poster has been released. David Cronenberg‘s upcoming film follows an archetypical Hollywood dynasty including a writer of self-help manuals, his wife who manages the career of their 13-year-old son, and their daughter, who was recently released from a sanatorium where she was treated for criminal pyromania. The plot also includes Havana, an actress who wants to remake a movie that starred her now-deceased mother. Mia Wasikowska plays the institutionalized daughter, and the actress is crushing the dead-eyed stare.

While the movie has received an R-rating from the MPAA, it currently doesn’t have a U.S. release date. Maps to the Stars will likely premiere at the Cannes Film Festival next month, and a domestic release date should be announced around then.
Here’s the synopsis for Maps to the Stars:
The Weiss family is the archetypical Hollywood dynasty: father Sanford is an analyst and coach, who has made a fortune with his self-help manuals; mother Christina mostly looks after the career of their son Benjie, 13, a child star.
One of Sanford’s clients, Havana, is an actress who dreams of shooting a remake of the movie that made her mother, Clarice, a star in the ’60s. Clarice is dead now and visions of her come to haunt Havana at night. Adding to the toxic mix, Benjie has just come off a rehab program he joined when he was 9 and his sister, Agatha, has recently been released from a sanatorium where she was treated for criminal pyromania…
