Limited Paper: Mark Englert Announces Giant AP (Artist Proof) Sale, Offers Limited Paper Readers Free Poster of Their Choice

     November 20, 2012

Today’s a good day, folks.  For starters, we’ve got details on the AP sale going down at Mark Englert’s online store tomorrow, including glow-in-the-dark versions of Mark’s Walking Dead and Dr. Who prints, AP editions of his first Mondo poster (the Back to The Future-themed Let’s See if You Bastards Can Do Ninety), and a series of one-of-a-kind “Zombie Portraits” that won’t be available forever.  If you’ve ever missed out on an Englert drop, tomorrow may be your lucky day…

And in more ways than one!  Not only is Englert dropping about 10 minty-fresh AP’s tomorrow, but he’s also graciously agreed to bankroll our first-ever Lightning Round Giveaway:  shoot me an email and you could win your choice of any AP poster that Mark’s dropping tomorrow…absolutely free.  Wanna find out what’s going to be available (and pick out a print just in case ya win)?   All the info’s waiting for you after the jump, Captain.

As our longtime readers will probably remember, the very first edition of Limited Paper (which debuted here at about just about eight months ago) featured a brief interview with an up-and-coming artist by the name of Mark Englert.  Back then, Mark still seemed a little amazed about just how quickly things had been moving for him:  he’d found reasonable success working in the comic book industry,  but he flat-out asploded after designing a truly awesome poster based on John Carpenter’s The Thing (see below).

Since then, Mark’s produced posters for Mondo, Gallery1988Bottleneck Gallery, and Ltd Edition Gallery in the UK, and they’ve all sold extremely well…so well, in fact, that some of you may have been left out when those drops took place.  Well, good news is, you aren’t out of chances:  tomorrow Mark’s releasing about 10 different AP posters (and almost all of them can be personalized with an OG sketch, too).  Before we go any further, let’s look at what’s dropping at Mark’s store tomorrow morning:

  • Let’s See if You Bastards Can Do Ninety by Mark Englert (for Mondo)
  • $50 AP edition of 40
  • 12×36”
  • Features Glow-in-The-Dark and metallic inks

  • You Killed a Pine by Mark Englert (for Mondo)
  • $75 AP Variant edition of 24
  • 12×36”
  • Features Glow-in-The-Dark and metallic inks

  • You Are My Lucky Star by Mark Englert (for Gallery88)
  • 12×36”
  • $50 AP Green Variant edition of 45

  • 18×24”
  • $50 AP edition of 8
  • Features Glow-in-The-Dark and metallic inks

  • The Oldest and Most Mighty Race in The Universe by Mark Englert (for LtD Edition Gallery)
  • 18×24”
  • $50 AP Variant edition of 40
  • Features Glow-in-The-Dark inks

  • This is My Farm…I’ll Die Here by Mark Englert
  • 12×36”
  • $50 AP edition of 42
  • Features Glow-in-The-Dark inks

  • This is My Farm…I’ll Die Here by Mark Englert
  • 12×36”
  • $125 AP Variant Set of 7
  • Comes with Both Posters Seen Below

And now…the specialty stuff.  To begin with, any of the posters listed above can have an original sketch added to them for an additional $30.  As Mark notes on his website, the borders on these prints don’t allow an enormous amount of room to sketch something in…but I know from experience that Mark’s pretty crafty when it comes to using that space, so don’t let the limited area scare ya off (the only AP poster that won’t be available for the $30 margin sketch is You Are My Lucky Star:  because that one’s printed on black paper, you’ll get a separate sketch—on a 3.5”x2.5” piece of paper—if you pay the extra thirty bucks).  On top of that offer, Mark’s also offering these deals:

  • The Oldest and Most Mighty Race:  Hand-Finished Edition by Mark Englert
  • 18×24”
  • Available for $100 on copies of Mark’s Oldest and Most Mighty Race print
  • Your choice of any Dr. Who team or villain, hand-finished on the print in Sumi Ink

  • Zombie Portrait by Mark Englert
  • Send in your photo and $150, get turned into a zombie by Mark Englert
  • 9×12”
  • Each additional person in the portrait will raise the price by $50

Now, as for today’s Lightning Round Giveaway, here are the rules:  send me an email containing your name, address, and the title of the print you think you’ll want to claim if you win, along with the subject line “MARK ENGLERT IS THE MOST MIGHTY” (if your email doesn’t have that subject line, you won’t be entered).  We will stop accepting entries for this giveaway tomorrow morning at 10am CST.  At that point, a winner will be chosen at random, their email/address will be forward along to Mark, and he will be shipping the winner their poster directly.

As for what you can pick:  any of the AP’s seen above or at Mark’s online store.  What you can’t pick:  the “Zombie Portrait” or “Hand-Finished” Dr. Who print.  If you win and decide you’d like to get your free poster sketched, you can absolutely work that out with Mark once you’ve been selected.   This one should be pretty easy to understand, but if I’ve forgotten something vital—or if you have a pressing question—go ahead and shoot me an email before the deadline tomorrow.

Good luck to everyone, and thanks to much to Mark for agreeing to throw down an AP print for today’s giveaway.  Guess I’ll see all of you (in spirit) at tomorrow’s AP sale!  Until then:  if you’re an artist or gallery with artwork you’d like to see featured on Limited Paper (or if you’re just some lucky bastard who happened to overhear a bit of poster-related gossip while standing in the bushes outside Martin Ansin’s house) we wanna hear from you!  Email Limited Paper directly at, and be sure that you’re following us on Twitter via @LimitedPaper for ongoing commentary, news updates, giveaways, and more!
