New Image from THE AVENGERS Provides a Good Look at Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk

     April 5, 2012

The marketing campaign for The Avengers has been pretty non-stop lately, and yet another image from the film has hit the web.  This time, we get a pretty good look at Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk.  Earlier this morning a new image of Captain America came by way of release date news for Captain America 2, and yesterday a Scarlett Johansson-enhanced first clip from the film was released.  This Hulk image gives us a nice look at how Ruffalo’s facial features have been incorporated into his angrier, greener self, though this particular emotion would better be described as “Sad Hulk.”

Hit the jump to check out the new Hulk image, and be sure to catch up on all of our Avengers goodness (including Steve’s extensive set visit coverage) right here.  The film also stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston and Samuel L. JacksonThe Avengers opens in 3D on May 4th.

Motion capture technology is used instead of whole cgi created hulk as seen in earlier hulk movies.

    • LAME

Ang Lee’s Hulk was animated using motion capture.

  • Robb

That expression is a little too close to the angsty, contemplative, emo version of the character from the Ang Lee movie.

I’m hopeful he’ll spend most of his time smashing this time out.

  • Dogg

Really? LIME green? There are just some decisions heteros should make if we don’t want a FABULOUS Hulk.

    • Chris

      Oh, shut up.

    • Warpcrafter

Would you rather he be fluorescent green like in Ang Lee’s film?

    • Teinen

Bros, lime green? So not tough. Where’s his Tapout shirt?

People are bitching about something from 1 picture that looks better than ANY other Hulk. SHOCKING! Damn, comment sections there’s no pleasing u. I can understand bitching about The Lizard in the new Spiderman cause its a completely stupid looking goomba and looks nothing like comics lizard. This is pretty spot on hulk if u ask me. The more he rages I bet the veins pop out and he looks all hulk smash. He seems to be pretty calm here. Oh what up Dogg homophobic much? U want shitty color on hulk just go look at sexy hulk in Angle Lee’s version.

    • Ur mom

I agree. This Ruffalized Hulk is perfect. It looks just like him. I was a little disappointed with the Lizard. I think he just needs a longer snout.

  • Rickey G

What’s wrong with this Hulk? Seriously! People with moan and complain about anything. Yeah, I get the irony of me complaining about people complaining but Jebus what is he gonna have to look like for people not to complain? Should he be just a comic cut out that doesn’t ever move? I bet 90% of the people complaining haven’t read 1 hulk comic EVER.

    • pooper

dude what are you talking about?? there was like 1 complaint.

I guess youve just used the internet long enough to know to assume ppl will be giving something crap; and have a standard reply u pull out in times like this

I think this is the best version yet. Ang Lee’s Hulk did kinda have that Shrek feel to it. Louis Letterrier’s Hulk was better but still not quite right. Too ripped and not buff enough. This time I think the CGI artists nailed the look. I think the grey and beard stubble adds some character and makes him more life-like. My two cents.

there’s something about this version of the Hulk that makes him much more believable than the other two versions. This Hulk looks like he could actually exist if ya know what I mean.

    • Gregg

I agree! This Hulk looks so awesome. The CG is spectacular. I know what you mean when you say he could actually exist. This version of the Hulk shows so much realism, it’s kinda scary.

Hope Marvel gives the Hulk another movie. I thought the last one got him back on track.
