We were excited to hear that Mark Ruffalo will act out the larger, greener Hulk thanks to the wonders of motion capture. That fact was thrown into some doubt at the hint of a mo-cap audition process, but Ruffalo reiterated last night at the Independent Spirit Awards that he is heavily involved with the process:
“[It looks] just like me. We’re going out of our way. First of all, I’ll be playing it. I’ll be the first actor to actually do it in motion capture as the Hulk. And so all the features are mine — they’re just really big.”
Ruffalo also praises the script, which combines the comedy and pathos that fall “right in [writer/director] Joss Wheedon’s wheelhouse.” He seems positively giddy about shooting The Avengers, which also stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, and Cobie Smulders. Watch the video after the jump.
Marvel has amassed so many people who can do no wrong — Ruffalo, Whedon, Downey, Renner, Jackson, Smulders. I don’t know if The Avengers will be great, but it certainly won’t be dull. I love Ruffalo’s energy here.

not that I’m against funny, but I thought that we were suppossed to take this film seriously?
Wait. Cobie Smulders is likeable and all, but she’s in the same category of “can do no wrong” as Ruffalo, Whedon, Downey, Renner, and Jackson?
Yes? I think “can do no wrong” is just a hyperbolic way for me to say “likeable.”
What is your hyperbole for Renner. No offense to him but I dont think he is in the category either.
You are probably like “GET A LIFE PEOPLE” and I would tend to agree but since it was brought up, thought I might add to the fire.
Love the website though.
I mean, it’s subjective, right? I think Renner’s a terrific, charismatic actor. That he’ll make the film that much better in what I’m guessing is a limited role.
You’re allowed to disagree, as long as you love the website unconditionally.
Joss Whedon can ” do no wrong”… have you seen ‘Alien Resurrection’?
I think this movie will be a clusterfuck, watch.
One of the biggest mistakes both previous films made, is that HULK never really looked like HULK!
Both tried mutating the cgi Hulk with the actor, and therefore we never really got to see a Hulk that looked as good as he could be.
The cgi was bad on both as it was, but could have been more forgiving is the character design on both was spot on.
Hulk 1, was too chubby looking and cartoony. Hulk 2 was too lean and rippled.
The faces on both just looked ugly.
Here Ruffalow says It looks just like him! Well, never have i ever seen Hulk in any shape or form and thought, Hey Hulk looks like Mark Ruffalow!
I hope this next one is perfect, with more Hulk action rather than Banner Boredom.
Eh, given that most comic book characters look nothing like their illustrated selves in movies I never had a problem with any of the hulks. It always looks like Hulk.
