Now in theaters nationwide is Now You See Me 2, the follow-up to the surprise 2013 hit about a band of merry magicians known as The Horsemen who take a cue from Robin Hood, stealing from the rich and corrupt to give back to the everyday folk. The sequel brings the Horsemen back together again for another round of their old tricks, from the elaborate heists to the magic fights(!), and offers up a healthy infusion of new blood in the process, both behind the camera Jon Chu taking over for Louis Letterier at the helm, and Lizzy Caplan morbid geek magician joining the ranks of the infamous team of illusionists for their next big show.

Returning alongside Jesse Eisenberg's illusionist Danny Atlas and Dave Franco's street magician Jack Wilder are Woody Harrelson as the mentalist Merritt McKinney and Mark Ruffalo as the FBI agent and secret head Horseman, Dylan Rhodes. In anticipation of the film's release, I recently sat down with Harrelson and Ruffalo to chat about Now You See Me 2, the fun and challenge of learning magic, and of course, Hulk's role in Thor: Ragnarok. As one of the duo's final interviews of the press day, I caught them at their most slaphappy state and it was a complete delight. Check out what they had to say in the video above.

Mark Ruffalo and Woody Harrelson:

  • Of all the things they get to learn as actors, is magic the most fun?
  • Talk about how Harrelson practiced his mentalist skills in a New Orleans bar.
  • What's exciting about Bruce Banner's arc in Thor: Ragnarok?
  • Ruffalo says Thor will pit "Banner vs Hulk".
  • Harrelson talks about wanting to be a part of the superhero genre and loving Deadpool.

Here’s the official synopsis for Now You See Me 2:

THE FOUR HORSEMEN [Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Lizzy Caplan] return for a second mind-bending adventure, elevating the limits of stage illusion to new heights and taking them around the globe. One year after outwitting the FBI and winning the public’s adulation with their Robin Hood-style magic spectacles, the illusionists resurface for a comeback performance in hopes of exposing the unethical practices of a tech magnate. The man behind their vanishing act is none other than WALTER MABRY [Daniel Radcliffe], a tech prodigy who threatens the Horsemen into pulling off their most impossible heist yet. Their only hope is to perform one last unprecedented stunt to clear their names and reveal the mastermind behind it all.
